Woolly Hugs : A Blanket for SupermansBigRedBottleOfSpirits. Crafters and donors, please, we need your help.

I am afraid we bring very sad news. We heard recently that our SupermansBigRedBottleOfSpirits’ third child, beautiful baby Summer has died at nearly twelve weeks of age. Bless them all, such a devastating loss, we are so very sorry. Superman’s thread is here.

She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts, and we send them love. We are so pleased that they have accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love for them all in every stitch. We hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So lovely donors, knitters and crocheters, we will need help to make this happen, and will be so grateful if you can join with us.

All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Superman and her family have been thinking about their blanket and have come up with some lovely ideas for baby Summer. Bless them all.

For accents/embellishments on squares, not whole squares pls :

• Red but please only use Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM06 “Ruby”
• Yellow for flower centres only
• Turquoise.

I am really pants, I posted my squares yesterday 2nd class, but didn't include my name. So when two dark pink squares and a flower will turn up they are mine !

I have two crocheted flower squares ready to go but in order to avoid the crazy Christmas post (and being very honest the crazy Christmas post office queues) I think I'll post end of December.

In the meantime my favourite knitted square pattern has reappeared online so I'll try to get one of those done before I post too.

Oh Babs I think that sounds very wise And love that pattern!

Piggy's Mum Piggy - please thank your lovely mum, these are just super. Colourful grannies with a central raised cross, in three different combinations of purple, pink and green. Fabulous

Knotty or Pistey are either of you around for some quick advice please .

The only woolly wool I have left to suit this blanket is Cashsoft Vamp (#532). Lovely colour which I know we've used before but is it bright enough for this blanket?

The other option is that I think I have enough of this which is the base to my other two squares to do square #3?

I sent one square already but after 18 months of boring knitting I appear to have finally mastered moss stitch so will do a square using that x

Then, when you do your second moss stitch square you can call yourself MOSSagain!

You may well have seen Hoggy's beautiful Little Hug pic posted yesterday on our MNWoollyHugs Facebook page, well one of her squares is that flower pattern in purples and cream. Just beautiful, and the other is a knit in apple with lovely bright pink flowers and an adorable little ladybird too. Super

I'm really glad - and surprised! - they arrived so quickly

I was going to put in a card for Superman but couldn't think of any words worth committing to paper in the face of such a loss.

Superman, if you're reading this, know that thoughts of you and Summer went into every row I muddled through. And I've just deleted another three sentences because it all sounds so banal but I'm still thinking of you a lot and will be for a very long time to come.

The next pair of gorgeous squares have had somewhat of an adventurous journey, but are here safely now. The envelope had split, so the PO put them in a plastic bag. There is a card for superman, but not going to open that. Not sure if a note has gone missing.Hopefully someone will claim them One is a deep pink solid granny, perfect, the other a green granny square wit a cream and pinks flower centre. Both just lovely, thank you
