We have heard the dreadfully sad and shocking news that SurvivalOfTheUnfittest's husband died suddenly towards the end of April. We send Survival our love and are so sorry for her loss. She, their boys, family and friends are in our hearts and thoughts.

She calls her family Team Survival, and we have offered to make them a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can. We are so pleased she has accepted, there will be love for all of them crafted into every stitch. Survival's thread is here Sad

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

I will co ordinate and Knotty (KnottyLocks) will help you with any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere heartfelt thanks. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, I can help you with all of it.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar, have been trialled and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, JKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

    The Colours
    Blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream, please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green but only for embellishments please
There is support for buying colours on our website, here.

    Suggestions for personalisations and motifs
*Her DH loved football and designed Land Rovers for a living.
*They all very much love the great outdoors, so themes from nature.
*Forget-me-not flowers in particular are very significant.
*Their two boys love teddies and Lego.
*They also love Angry Birds - if you think this could be you, please PM
*We have their initials, if you would like to help with this, please also PM.

    Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' or 'follow' us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM me for info. As always, we thank you so much for your support.
    Pistey and Knotty Thanks

So sad that another blanket is needed. Survival my lovely, we are thinking of you and the boys, your families and friends and sending love X

Pistey, did you see my question about the green and blue wool?
Basically, I ordered the James C Brett apple green and the pale blue, intending to make four squares with each for Daisy's blanket. Do you think you'll need all eight for Daisy's, or would it be ok if I did four green squares for Daisy and saved the pale blue to do four squares for Survival's blanket? It's only that shipping to Canada is quite expensive, it comes to almost as much as the yarn itself, and we have quite a bit outgoing at the moment so I can't really justify paying that much for another two balls of yarn. I'm here again. So very sad that we're needed again. I've got some wool and I've just finished for Daisy, so I'll get started tonight. I'll make one big parcel with everything I'm sending you.

I hope this is the right place to ask and that it's not too stupid a question but it's my first contribution and I want to get it right.

I've looked at the blankets on the Woolly Hugs web site. Can the squares be any stitch as long as they are 6 inches?

Sorry. Blush
