We have heard the dreadfully sad and shocking news that SurvivalOfTheUnfittest's husband died suddenly towards the end of April. We send Survival our love and are so sorry for her loss. She, their boys, family and friends are in our hearts and thoughts.

She calls her family Team Survival, and we have offered to make them a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can. We are so pleased she has accepted, there will be love for all of them crafted into every stitch. Survival's thread is here Sad

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

I will co ordinate and Knotty (KnottyLocks) will help you with any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere heartfelt thanks. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, I can help you with all of it.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar, have been trialled and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, JKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

The Colours
Blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream, please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green but only for embellishments please
There is support for buying colours on our website, here.

Suggestions for personalisations and motifs
*Her DH loved football and designed Land Rovers for a living.
*They all very much love the great outdoors, so themes from nature.
*Forget-me-not flowers in particular are very significant.
*Their two boys love teddies and Lego.
*They also love Angry Birds - if you think this could be you, please PM
*We have their initials, if you would like to help with this, please also PM.

Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

I have sent a PM. Will order wool tonight . So so sad. I have a candle burning for a friend who is expected to leave this world tonight. Life can be so cruel .

Jacksmania · 07/05/2013 22:19

I'd planned to contribute four green (James C Brett apple green) and four blue (James C Brett pale blue) squares to Daisy's blanket, would it be all right if I sent the four green ones for Daisy's banker and saved the pale blue wool for this one? Deramores did post the yarn very quickly but shipping to Canada costs nearly as much as the yarn, and we've hit a lot going out at the moment Blush. I don't want to be cheap but I hope that's ok Blush.

Jacksmania · 07/05/2013 22:20

"Daisy's banker"

Daisy's BLANKET, obvs.

Can pisty or knots order my wool for me as know I will get the wrong one :(

Survival will love her blanket - wrapped up in a cocoon of wooly love

Having received one of these blankets :( I was so so touched - the amount of love and hard effort that goes into each square is amazing

And well done pisty and knotty for organising all these much needed hugs and everyone else / rather a knitter or gatherer or donator xxx

Such a sad time for Survival and her family.
She'll be in my thoughts while I help towards her blanket.

Lots of love to Team Survival, wishing you all the strength. Thanks

tribpot · 08/05/2013 07:28

I'll ask MN to amend the title of our existing support thread so we can run one for both blankets.

Thoughts and love to Team Survival.
