We have heard the dreadfully sad and shocking news that SurvivalOfTheUnfittest's husband died suddenly towards the end of April. We send Survival our love and are so sorry for her loss. She, their boys, family and friends are in our hearts and thoughts.

She calls her family Team Survival, and we have offered to make them a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can. We are so pleased she has accepted, there will be love for all of them crafted into every stitch. Survival's thread is here Sad

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

I will co ordinate and Knotty (KnottyLocks) will help you with any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Sincere heartfelt thanks. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, I can help you with all of it.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar, have been trialled and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, JKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

    The Colours
    Blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream, please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green but only for embellishments please
There is support for buying colours on our website, here.

    Suggestions for personalisations and motifs
*Her DH loved football and designed Land Rovers for a living.
*They all very much love the great outdoors, so themes from nature.
*Forget-me-not flowers in particular are very significant.
*Their two boys love teddies and Lego.
*They also love Angry Birds - if you think this could be you, please PM
*We have their initials, if you would like to help with this, please also PM.

    Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' or 'follow' us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM me for info. As always, we thank you so much for your support.
    Pistey and Knotty Thanks

So sad that another blanket is needed. Survival my lovely, we are thinking of you and the boys, your families and friends and sending love X

The boys and I talked about our mini hugs again today and I realised there might have been a thread about our woolly hug, begun at a time when everything was rather a blur. I've now found it and read all your wonderful messages. I just wanted to say thank you for all your amazing love and support (and sorry it's so late!) The boys and I are doing okay, with ups and downs, as you would expect.

Three forget-me-not mini hugs being sent to Team Survival this afternoon, along with all the cards that came for them. Pic of mini hugs on FB.

The mini hugs go with much love from us all. Their big Woolly Hug will follow at a later point.

We are keeping them close in our thoughts. Xx

It is Fathers' Day, and we know it will be a hard and sad day for many folk.

Thinking of Team Survival, but also of all our families for whom we have made, and are making Woolly Hugs, and all our crafters and donors who are missing someone they love too.

We are keeping you close in our hearts and thoughts.
Sending strength and love,

Pistey and Knotty Xx

Yay! I was slightly panicking about how much I'd delay construction of the blanket by having to redo them Grin

the 2 purple ones are for Trin's blanket btw, one of them is supposed to be a crocodile although DH thinks it's more like a duck Hmm

Yes, did notice the door but thought better of just wandering in with my square hoping that you didn't think that I was a burglar! Wink Glad you got it at any rate - can't believe I forgot information as vital as who it's actually for. Good grief, I can be a bit rubbish...

You know there is a Knit and Natter group held in there? I can't go because although I can certainly natter, I can't knit. I do know of one MNetter who goes though. Brew

Put my square through your door on Tuesday, Pistey, but just realised that I didn't say it was for TeamSurvival's blanket! it was a blue knit with diamonds. wrapped in lime green paper - did you get it?
