Support thread for Woolly Hugs - summer (sort of) 2013

Our sympathies and thoughts are with daisydotandgertie, who lost her husband this month.

Woolly Hugs is now in action and this is the support and chat thread at which all are welcome - knitters, crocheters and donors. If you are a first time crafter please do have a go. There is bags of support and plain squares are just as important to our endeavour as fancy ones.

As flowers was one of the requested motifs, I'll just note there's a flowers section in the crafting guide. I might try the posies pattern on this sock pattern. For Welsh (or at least Celtic) patterns, I did this for a previous blanket.

Good god. I didn't think there was any way MN could make the PM system worse, but that is truly, truly dreadful. All the recent site changes appear to have been designed by someone who's read about modern web styling but not really understood it at all.

Off to add this to the litany of complaints on Site Stuff.

You still get one on the mobile site and I think they are trying to put it back on the main site but it is very annoying.

Not been mentioned on Site Stuff, TheOne. At least the Inbox indicator problem hasn't been mentioned specifically. They should back all of the recent changes out until they can address some of the user experience concerns (sorry, I am doing this stuff at work at the moment so it is really grating on me to see it here). That button doesn't look like it could support a 'you've got mail' icon like the old one could; very poor work.

I do have email notifications for PMs because there are so many and that's the best way to be able to search iyswim? Will have to rely on those.

I do try to reply to PMs on the computer, tis easier, less headachey, but also for sending out PMs. Knotty and I get loads of messages for Woolly Hugs so I suppose we are used to checking but someone may get a PM and never see it.

What they've done doesn't add anything does it? Just bloody bonkers

I posted my lot last Saturday. So hopefully it'll be arriving in the next few days.

I feel a little bad for not adding anything sweet with it but there was nothing in the house and couldn't get to the shops before the post office. next time I'll be more prepared.

Beer I have some Stylecraft DK in teal and claret (I think - it's a deep blackcurranty red) that I can send you if you want to edge those squares from your DM in a contrast yarn to bring them up to a usable size. I have finished the project I bought it for and there is loads left. It is yours if you can use it. PM me and I'll stick it in the post.
