With heavy hearts we bring the desperately sad news that My5boysandme has lost her precious baby son Dexter. We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted. My5boysandme sends thanks to all and is very touched by everyone's kindness and compassion. Here is her original thread Sad

We send My5boysandme all our love and are so sorry for her loss. We are keeping her family close in our thoughts. X

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

If you would like to help in anyway, please post on this thread but also PM me so we know. If you are able to donate, I can match you up with a crafter, or give you our donating information. I will co ordinate, match and deal with any admin. Knotty is here to answer any questions you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks once again Thanks

As in the past, for consistency, the wools we are using are:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

4mm knitting needles or hooks
6" squares, as simple or as complex as you like.

The Colours
Greens, blues, silvers, dark/warm purple and cream.
If choosing cream, we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

Here is our website Do use the Crafting Guide on it to help you with practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can also be seen on the website. We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our FB page then you will get all our updates on our progress via your newsfeed.

So sad that another blanket is needed. Sending much love to My5boysandme and her family, and thinking of baby Dexter.

Thankyou Piste for doing this so quickly and efficiently,

My wool is on the way to a more talented mumsnetter as we speak.

:)

I have cream wool, but it is Rowan Cashsoft DK cream - shade 500 I think. Is this OK or not? I have greens and blues as well if preferable.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/10/2012 15:39

Thanks Jules - Rowan cashsoft 500 is fine, I've got some here that I've been using on a Little Hug and just compared the two, tis very close. Thank you for checking though Thanks

Lovely woolly treasure has arrived, many thanks indeed, tis all absolutely gorgeoise Thanks

Thanks RiaOverTheRainbow Just lovely, purple textured knits, and don't worry about the blackberry stitch Ria, if it stretches to 6" then it is fine, and it does Smile Star

Thanks DancingShoes Lovely greens, purples, silvers, crochet and knits, flowers and textures, just smashing Star

Heartfelt thanks indeed X

i've got some of the Rowan Cream 500 too, if you hold a ball of it next to the Debbie Bliss cream you can see a slight difference but it is very close indeed, I couldn't tell which was which from the bits I'd stuck in my wool scrapbook, only by the feel of it.

Skoggy · 17/10/2012 16:23
