We have heard the desperately sad news that 3girlies daughter Flora has lost her battle against a brain tumour, she was 6 years old. 3girlies' thread is here

We send 3girlies our love and are so sorry for her loss. She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts X

We have offered to make the family a blanket, and hope it may give whatever comfort it can to them. We are so pleased that they have accepted.

So we are calling out for knitters, crocheters and donors. Can you help us?

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread, and also PM me so we know. I will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with any admin. We now have Paypal to make donating easier for all. So please PM if you would like to join us, or if I can help match you. Knotty will try to answer any queries you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks. Thanks

Once again the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cash)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK

    The Colours
Pinks, warm purple, greens, blues, silver, cream
If choosing cream we ask that you go for the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013

    Themes
Flowers please, also initials F, P and L.

    4mm needles or hook.

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info, and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for squares.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs which are good ways to keep in touch.

But once again, we thank you so much for your support X Thanks

Pistey, I'm attempting to learn to crochet again. If I can get some wool and good enough before you need the squares, I'll attempt one.

I will also donate just in case my crocheting attempts are not so good!

Lolli, if it's better for you, do a 5.5" square on a 5mm hook and I'll pop a border on to get the right tension later?

There's a lady in my knitting group with vi and ld (comes with a carer) who knits in dk on 8mm needles :) not the same situation as you, i know, just an example of what determination can get you!

Bwahahaha, I've almost got my chain stitch back (the point I was at last time I tried this). Just need to do a better knot to start so I don't lose it...

Lollipop - I am also crocheting for the first time - shall we hold each other's hands?

Make a circle with the wool, leaving a good long end - 6" or so.

Use the hook to draw up a loop from the ball side of the wool.

Pull it tight.

Voila, slip knot (not the band)

Morning.

I'm currently playing "hunt the crochet hook" in my bag of wool off cuts (from when my lovely gran used to knit, and tried teaching me). I've managed to lose about a 35 stitch chain and the hook in there!

On the plus side, chain stitch is sorted, just need to learn another one so I can do something now - then I'll get some of the recommended wool from the lovely wool lady in town (I like supporting local businesses) and might attempt a granny square - I like the look of them :)
