Following on from the terrible news of the loss of Mumof2TeenBoys' ds, a new Woolly Hugs project has been started and, as ever, MNers have stepped up to offer whatever little comfort we can to Mumof and her family. We also keep close in our thoughts Aillidh, the dd of expatinscotland, who died yesterday.

We've put together some general info mostly about knitting but with some crochet bits thrown in, which should get you started but please feel free to ask for any help - I'm not sure if the crocheters are going to set up a new support thread but their current one is found here.

Please dive in - we will inevitably end up talking bollocks rubbish at some point but all are welcome aboard.

Noooooo daisy stay with us. Two needles are better than one Wink

Thank you, I'm a bit Blush because all I did was follow a pattern.

Miserable Sunday here, so I'm sofa surfing watching the Olympics and knitting. I'm trying to ignore my friend blanket for the moment as my first attempt of the icord border was a bit disastrous! I may need divine intervention to get it done in time!

tribpot · 29/07/2012 13:17

DAISY - do we need a cable meet-up? What pattern are you doing?

Glaikit - I have to do that icord border soon as well, so let me know where the bear traps are. Was it the corner?

Along with the literally six other knitting projects I have on at the same time I'm doing this shawl as a present for my mum. (Ravellenic project as none of the others qualified). Highly recommended as a very peaceful bit of knitting, albeit I can see by the end I'll be slogging through rows of 300+ stitches, which will be less amusing I suspect!

I don't know Trib, I didn't get to a corner! The invisible cast on, confused me to start with, then for som unknown reason the colour from my picked up stitches was showing through the border and I don't think that's right. So I decided to save my sanity when on holiday I'd do the giraffe instead! I'll just book myself a padded room now i think!

tribpot · 29/07/2012 13:44

Yeah, the invisible cast-on is a nice to have in my view. I'll give it a try on my blanket-in-progress and let you know.

I opened a cupboard in the holiday house we're renting last night and found two lovely blankets made from panels of a moss stitch zigzag Smile.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 29/07/2012 21:48

The giraffe is very impressive Glaikit as is the scarf Trib

I seem to have repetitive strain injury in my fingers from knitting. They went numb and everything. Tis truly a massive crisis. I shall push through the pain barrier in order to finish my last square for expat/giraffe, but may have to take a break before I resume the battle of the windmill bags...

TeamGlaikitBritain · 29/07/2012 23:22

giraffe pattern I took 2 stitches off the border Each side and only did 2 rows topped and bottom to bring it into my gauge as its a bit wide.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 30/07/2012 08:34

Can anyone tell me if there is another thread with a list of whose squares have been received?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/07/2012 09:01

Bewitched - I post thanks on the sign up thread for each blanket. On my phone now so can't link, hopefully someone will, but yours have arrived safely Thanks

Good morning woolly wonders. My squares for Expat and Giraffe are finally finished.

After 2 7!! goes at a star, I chucked it and tried Team Heart. Quite pleased with it here I'm not stressing too much about the wonky edges either Grin

Am I pming Pistey again?

tribpot · 30/07/2012 10:13

Excellent squares, HairyPotter! Fine work on Team Heart.

It would be Hairy but I will PM you Smile

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 30/07/2012 13:58

Nice squares Hairy - what patterns are the textured squares on the right?

HairyPotter · 30/07/2012 14:45

Nsns I'm fairly sure I pinched the pattern from here
, one is rice stitch and the other one is 'the very simple stitch' Grin which is all I can cope with

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 30/07/2012 17:57

Hairy I have done a couple of the fleck stitch (further down your link). I really like some of the squares on there.

droitwichmummy · 31/07/2012 08:04

Squares done and pics on profile . Thank you to my lovely donors, I hope you like them.
I have enough green/pink to do one more so I am doing a checked one and will then post at the weekend

prettybird · 31/07/2012 09:25
