This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

And Purple - I shall build up to baby things, I think they may be beyond my current ability level Smile

PurplePidjin · 23/05/2012 06:56

Teatowel sized blanket?

KnottyLocks · 23/05/2012 06:59

Morning all Smile

Yes Trib, I am being very politically neutral Grin

Shall avoid politics on this thread from here on as this is a politics-free zone: a safe little woolly haven to escape to.

And also means I won't have steam coming out of my ears reading at least one thread on here! Grin

Well indeed, Pidj - a lot of our squares originate in face cloths and dishcloths on Ravelry so it's another useful thing to be starting with!

Podd - the bag has a icord bind off on the top edge but don't worry, we have talked MNers through this before, and it makes a lovely project!

I shall remain calm in the face of this adversity!

I must say I'm feeling quite inspired. Thanks Knotty and Piste for inspiring me to pick up my needles.

RedRosie · 23/05/2012 07:18

Morning Pitsey n Knotty n Trib n Purple n Podd n all.

What a beautiful day! Well it is in this here London Town.

Can someone remind me why I have to go to work?

notpodd · 23/05/2012 07:21

to buy wool? And the team Hooker T-shirt?

tribpot · 23/05/2012 07:24

It's gorgeous here in the grim north as well, Rosie. I have just bunged the washing machine on so I can have summat hanging out to dry in this fantastic weather. I have a two hour meeting in a room without windows this afternoon. Bonus.

And podd - that's the spirit. We shall overcome!

Right, one more written cat pattern - this time for Rosie!

Thanks Trib Thanks

My sheepy sheep, who was looking like I had done something wrong, seems to be coming right again. I kept the faith in your instructions - which is the right thing to do people.

I might even have two squares done by the end of the weekend ... I may try garden knitting.

Off to do a presentation to a very large and disconcerting number of people.

Have a lovely day all. Relish the sunshine.

Good morning ladies.

Just to let you all know that I contacted Rowan and Debbie Dliss about the great work you do. Rowan said you're all fab, but the warehouse is in Germany, so they don't have access to the wool to donate to causes anymore.

The lovely lady at Debbie Bliss said:

^Thank you for your Email. If you let me know your postal address we will send some yarn to support your cause. Keep up the good work. Love & Light x

Regards

I have your address, Pistey, is it ok if it's gets sent to you? Don't know how long it will take to arrive or how much there will be but a little stash should be useful going forward.

Thanks to lovely Kay and Thanks to all of you. xxx

KnottyLocks · 23/05/2012 09:28

Oh MrsY, you complete Star Smile

Thank you so much for doing that. Have a mahoosive hug x

prettybird · 23/05/2012 09:41

I prefer Debbie Bliss wool anyway! Wink

prettybird · 23/05/2012 09:42

And ThanksThanksThanks to MrsY for doing this :):)

Umami · 23/05/2012 09:53

ThanksThanksThanks to MrsY, how lovely Smile

I shall now be able to mentally justify buying lovely-to-hook-with DB yarn instead of cheap nasty stuff that I end up not using because it's all stretchy and splitty and not at all down to my lack of skill.

Thanks to lovely people at Debbie Bliss! Thanks

SoupDragon · 23/05/2012 10:55

How lovely that you found the time and energy to do that, MrsY :)

Found you all again Smile

prettybird · 23/05/2012 16:08

Just "finished" my woven cable square. Even though I used 42 stitches it has ended up only being 5" wide and 5.5" long Blush. I had thought it would stretch a bit more than it does Blush

Will it be ok? Hmm

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/05/2012 16:13

Does it stretch to 6" Pretty?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/05/2012 16:28

More woolly squares arriving safely - do check the threads Thanks

prettybird · 23/05/2012 16:28

Lengthways, no problem, widthways, juuuuuust about Blush. The problem is that the two directions of cable are pulling against each other Blush

Contrast that with my fisherman's rib square, which is a generous 6" Wink

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/05/2012 16:33

Knots says if it stretches to 6" then it is OK.

tribpot · 23/05/2012 17:02

Bird, do you want to try knitting a border on the vertical sides?
