Support thread 2 - new blankets

This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe ....and just when I'd worked out who you were on the "other place" I'm slow I am Wink

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 29/05/2012 13:51

Thats mostly why I did it - notpodd was obviously not very cryptic in the first place Grin, but the more MN spills into the "other place" the less suitable notpodd was becoming. Knotty came up with my new name (although I added the en pointe) - I'm deeply honoured that she thought I was wooly enough to have wool in my handle!

McKayz · 29/05/2012 14:33

Does anyone have a link telling me how to sort out the cast off bit of wool? How do I weave the end in?

The book I have says to use a crochet hook which is no good to me.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 15:22

Podd, glad you went for the name change X

Do you have a darning type needle Kayz? You sorta sew the pesky end in. If you haven't got one, send it and I will very kindly sew it in for you Grin

I [heart] Basil the Blue Sheep! He's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!
Can you send Pru too, my children would love that Grin

I had a traumatic bridesmaid dress making experience with loads of pressure on for DD.

It was a nightmare.
Raw silk

It was AWFUL!!

McKayz · 29/05/2012 15:23

Yes I have a darning needle. So do I just neatly sew it in? I can manage that.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 15:26

Yes, that's all you do, just sew it in. Fabulous Smile

RedRosie · 29/05/2012 16:24

Oh yes. Pru looks adorable. But she's very naughty. I'll try stuffing her into an envelope for you Pitsey ... If I can stop her eating Basil and everything else in the whole world

On the home stretch with the square-that-isn't-Basil. Not long now. There's enough wool for another plain square, so I'll try and do that also. No need to use it though, if its a bit rubbish not up to scratch.

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 18:12

Rosie, you can hold on to that last bit of wool for future projects, if you like. Saves rushing Smile

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 18:12

Pru sounds fun btw Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 29/05/2012 19:05

What is the other place? Feel free to not tell me. But I feel a bit left out!!

I've just realised last posting is Saturday eek! Id better got on. If you see me here again shout at me!!

tribpot · 29/05/2012 19:35

I thought the other place was Hell, Glaikit Wink

Well, Seamless Kimono and Kanoko pants were finished in a tearing hurry this morning to get them ready for transport back to our office in Deepest Devon, only it turned out my courier had been stuck in Deepest Devon when her plane was cancelled.

I then had to start IMing a complete stranger in one of our other buildings, who was rumoured to be going to Deepest Devon this avo to see if he would transport said items back with him. I then got conflicting reports about who he was and where he was from my sources inside the building and ended up having to bail out of a meeting to go and find him, leave the things with him and hope he knows where they go tomorrow!

Well done on completing Basil, Rosie!

It's not hell Trib! But it's close!! I have been enlightened!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 19:42

This is a Mumsnet thread Blanketeers - we need to keep it separate from personal Facebook, or Farcebook as Pidj refers to it! Grin Obv apart from our own MNWoollyHugs FB which is obviously a luffly inclusive place for everyone Smile

Lecture over.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 29/05/2012 19:47

Hell was helping out at DD2s rainbow meeting this afternoon, with DD1 and 3 in tow.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 20:01

Fizzog - you have mail Wine

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 29/05/2012 20:02

a likely story Wink

tribpot · 29/05/2012 20:03

I'm now going to have a go at this imposso-square of Minnie's. She sure can pick 'em. After a battle to infinity and beyond with the bloody tree last time ..

OP posts:
RedRosie · 29/05/2012 20:04

I've got bits of Pru in the envelope Pitsey ... Or that might be bits of the envelope in Pru. That sounds more likely.

Pru doesn't see herself as a "designer dog" (she's not BTW - she's a rescue pup and some days I can see why ), she sees herself as all wolf.

Anyhoo. I'm sure (I am, I am) that the correct things will be in the envelope by Saturday ...

Which is a good job as the thread is getting longer and I shall soon be cast out into the wilderness once more, pressing my nose against the window of the blanket support thread ... Unable to participate and feeling helpless and alone.

Woe is Rosie with her inadequate BlackBerry.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 20:04

trib - you don't live near me do you and fancy giving me knitting lessons?
I am honestly well behaved and try hard.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 20:05

Rosie - we can talk about you again Grin

tribpot · 29/05/2012 20:12

Oh great, a few more random bletherings and we can legitimately say bad things about Rosie behind-her-back-yet-to-her-face. It's possible other smartphones are a bit less - well, crap to put it mildly, Rosie. Mind you, I might try accessing the thread from my Nokia E72 just for the larf. Absolutely dire.

Pistey, I think you live far, far away from the mighty city of Leeds don't you? That said, I'm a technology person (strictly speaking an informatician, get me) so I am more than happy to see how Skype might help us to bridge the great divide.
