This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

Gorgeous princess mouse, Pidj!!
Did you use a particular pattern?

PurplePidjin · 28/05/2012 22:28

www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/princess-mouse

I freestyled the frock, just playing. Depending on whether I get called with work tomorrow she may acquire a red velvet cloak, a crown, and various other things raided from my stash...

MinnieBar · 28/05/2012 22:41

I finished my third square today (meant to be a raindrop pattern but my YOs seem a bit random, so they look more like little beetles) and I thought I'd give the two-colour prime rib pattern that Trib linked to.

Well. Not only does it look nothing like the picture, but there's no rib pattern at all Confused. It doesn't look hideous, but the tension is all over the shop and I keep seeming to end up with the wrong number of stitches, even if I then try to correct?

Ah well. One of these days I'll learn to stick to my limits!

tribpot · 28/05/2012 22:50

Minnie, was it this one? This looks a bit painful given you're meant to knit on the same side twice by sliding the stitches back to the start - eep.

OP posts:
MinnieBar · 28/05/2012 23:09

Yes that's the one! Mine looks more like a two-colour star pattern. But without a recogniseable pattern Wink
Normally when I go wrong I get at least some of the stitches right, but not on this one? I think the 'purl, YO, slip one purlwise, bring yarn forward, purl2tog' instruction is - god knows how!! - mistranslating in my brain to 'knit a mishmash tangle' Grin

Back to Ravelry?

notpodd · 28/05/2012 23:19

My first windmill bag is finished, photo on profile. More than a few errors are evident, but I imagine DD3 will enjoy putting things in and out of it - ala Eyeore.

tribpot · 29/05/2012 06:26

notpodd - love the bag. You could do ballet cardigans to match each one :)

Minnie - I'm gonna have a look at this crazy slidey pattern, but I have to get some Kanoko pants finished so I can give them to a colleague for onward transportation to their recipient today!

Arrrrrrhhgggghhhhhhh!!!

I had such mad busy woolly dreams last night! A huge box of squares arrived from lots and lots of different people, but none were named, I hadn't a clue where they had all come from, but I was trying to work it all out. I wasn't at home though, not sure where this was. But Knotty was there, making cups of tea saying I had to work it our from the knitting and the type of wool they'd used, some help she was and it was a bottomless box it seemed. And it was so difficult, I never finished it and then I woke up Confused

I'm zorsted!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/05/2012 06:39

And Poddy I love your bag, so two more of those, then the cardis?!

notpodd · 29/05/2012 06:42

Bless you Pistey - if it ever gets that bad let me know, I'll come over and make gin coffee. How is DD at babysitting smaller people?

Thanks for the amazing blanket work you do.

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 06:49

Morning Smile

I had woolly dreams too...not the same as Pistey's. Mine was endless hooking, didn't involve endless cups of tea, but plenty of confusion Grin

Podd, fabulosso bag, darling. Smile

RedRosie · 29/05/2012 07:25

Good morning knitters and hookers Brew

Have PMed you Pitsey.

Ooh those trousers are so, so cute Trib! One of my close friends is upduffed (I ranted a month back about her being über-precious about avoiding me when I had a cold - that was why!!) so they'd be great for her baby (due Nov) but her nan is a knitting wizard and has probably done an entire wardrobe already, three times over? so I thought I'd try and personalise some babygrows by using fabric paints and potato printing. I've never done that before? so, realistically, I'll be buying her something from a shop Grin

tribpot · 29/05/2012 08:17

Oh no Minnie, you should have a go at the Kanoko pants. I'm sure her nan will have done some lovely stuff but will probably have gone for the more traditional clothes/yarns/colours.

PurplePidjin · 29/05/2012 08:20

If she's pondering cloth nappies, make some out of pure wool and buy her a pot of lanolin Wink

And please let me know if you find a reasonably priced source so I can get working...

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 09:12

Minnie, re you personalising babygrows, how about applique? I did that on some little vests and it looked really cute.

tribpot · 29/05/2012 09:12

Or a baby surprise jacket, everyone loves a baby surprise jacket Grin

I really fancy a pair of Kanoko pants for me. Would be very snuggly for winter.

RedRosie · 29/05/2012 09:54

Basil The Blue Sheep is on my profile ...

Blush
notpodd · 29/05/2012 11:36

Basil is magnificent - respect. Grin

KnottyLocks · 29/05/2012 11:50

I love him, Rosie. Smile

Pru is a cutey too Grin

prettybird · 29/05/2012 11:56

Basil looks like Shirley from Shaun the Sheep! Grin

MinnieBar · 29/05/2012 12:27

Basil is awesome!

Unlike my sewing skills? so I'll either knit or print. I'd like to sew better (i.e. at all) so I could make bunting/sew up hems, that kind of thing. At school we made a skirt but the experience was so hideous I think I buried what knowledge I used to have very deep Grin

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 29/05/2012 12:33

Minnie - I also have a traumatic memory of sewing at school I attempted to suppress, as I think has my sewing teacher to be honest. I hem and tack. I can sew ribbons on ballet shoes and mouse ears on headbands, that's about it. That said, I have even more traumatic memories of having to knit a pair of fingerless gloves for school when I was 10, which went so wrong it gave me a fear of failure authority knitting until about 4 weeks ago. < preens at triumphing over fear>

notpodd here BTW, I've been needing to change my handle for ages, finally got round to doing so and just when you were starting to recognise me
