We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Piste - I've already had my donor wool for wubbly's blanket.
I'm more than happy for whatever I create to be split between the two blankets.

I will PM you once dc are asleep.

GleamingHeels · 26/02/2012 19:09

Have PM'd Pistey, I can knit with donated wool

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 26/02/2012 19:15

How can we all be sure we aren't bidding against each other on eBay!! That would be madness!!

PurplePidjin · 26/02/2012 19:19

For anyone who would like a bit of support with their crafting, or would like to meet their crafter/donor/other likeminded folk

I'm organizing a Mumsnet Knit and Natter

VeryLittleGravitas · 26/02/2012 19:19

I have 3 pink/purple/green squares to donate already. I'll order some more wool in blue/grey for Wubbleys blanket (the pink/green squares are a tad girly)

cookielove · 26/02/2012 19:20

I can help, will Pm pistey now.

bigbuttons · 26/02/2012 20:07

I've just got some wool on ebay, they've got good prices there. Will have finished knitting this week.

HuldraJente · 26/02/2012 20:11

I've just pm'd Pistey. Is so unutterably sad.

SixtyFootDoll · 26/02/2012 20:15

Thanks pistes for regaining. My wool order should be with a knitter soon. I wish I could knit.

chipmonkey · 26/02/2012 20:16

I will knit a couple of squares for both blankets. So very, very sorry to hear this awful news. If anyone is in touch with Mrs K, please tell her she is welcome on the bereaved mums thread when she feels ready.

travellingwilbury · 26/02/2012 20:17

This is so sad , I can't do anything crafty and as much as I would like to try I think it is best if I send money instead .

maxmissie · 26/02/2012 20:18

Have pm'd pistey just now to offer a ball of wool.

Molehillmountain · 26/02/2012 20:27

I think I've sent a pm! I can knit and provided own wool. I may be able to do more but will commit to do a balls worth. How many squares is that?

roguepixie · 26/02/2012 20:30

Have PM'd you Pistey.

Am doing squares for Mrs Wubbly and will knit some for Mrs Kwazii as well.

Have own wool so no need to link me up with a donor.

This is so sad. Sad

Whatevertheweather · 26/02/2012 20:36

Not sure if anyone has said this already but for those donating wool. I used Cucumber Patch it was easy to find the right wool and they delivered direct to my knitter who received it next day.

Pistey and Knotty Thanks

MrsK if you do read this can I echo Chip - we will be there if you need any support on the bereaved mums thread here

mumatron · 26/02/2012 20:36

pistey I can't pm off my phone. I can send more wool to soupy if she hasn't been matched yet.

If not let me know and I'll send to someone else.

PrettyPirate · 26/02/2012 20:47

Have PM'd you too RatherBeOnThePiste.
What a sad news Sad

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 20:51

Molehill, most knitters get 2 to 3 squares from 1 ball of wool.

We ask that you send any leftover wool with the finished squares. We use this for either hooking the blanket together or adding embellishments or making more squares.

Thanks to all that have offered to help in anyway.
As always, it is very touching.

I am happy to crochet some squares and can try and buy wool or use donated, whatever works best. Will PM you Piste. Such sad news Sad

coffeeisking · 26/02/2012 21:12

Hello, I would really love to help by donating some wool, but wont be able to get some until next weekend, would this be of any help?

If not is there something/anything i can do until then?

Feel so much for MrsKwazii. Sad

Pleiades45 · 26/02/2012 21:19

I can knit, if you find me a donor.

PoohBearsHole · 26/02/2012 21:22

I saw this and it has really hit me. Same age dd Sad.
I last knitted for dd when she was born but I would really like to knit something if I can, I am a very simplistic knitter Smile but I could probably knock something up pretty quick.

If I am making for MrsKwazi am happy to add to Wubbly's blanket too if I can. So do I PM Pistey?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 21:32

Many thanks for all messages, I hope I have responded to all. I'm just going to make my way through these threads to make sure no one is left behind x

PoohBear and Coffee - I am starting with you Smile
