We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

And a very big virtual hug for you too Mr Wubbly. Your message means a very great deal to me, and I know it will to all of us. So lovely to see you on here, and so thoughtful of you to come and share more about Wendy with us. She was so very loved. Look at the response we have had - overwhelming in the most positive way. Reasserting faith in humanity? A definite yes to that MrW. This thread emanates love and warmth. The blanket for Wendy will too, and I am honoured to be part of it.

Love to you and Lawrie

Pistey

At work everyone, just doing PMs - back at lunchtime

Thanks
RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 07:05

Thanks

Knotty, I had been eyeing up the sofa, oddly enough. i thought it looked so clean :o

SoupDragon · 07/03/2012 07:08

MrWubbly, I hope the blanket will give you and Lawrie some sort of comfort for many years to come.

KnottyLocks · 07/03/2012 07:12

MrWubbly, see? I told you. Smile

Thanks coming to see us. I know how much it means to me and will do to others involved here.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of Wendy,Lawrie and you. I know we do natter on a bit on here at times (we do that rather well!) but every square made is made with you all in mind, crafted with love as well as wool.

Lawrie, when you read this thread one day you will hopefully understand how very much your mum was respected and how highly she was thought of. That's because she was wonderful.
The second thing that you'll probably realise is that we chat a lot about all sorts of things. Your mum enjoyed that bit too. Smile

A huge hug from me to you both.

xxx

Thank you for taking the time to post MrW - and such a moving and dignified post too.
I didn't really 'know' Wendy through here, but I was very saddened to hear the news, and it struck a nerve as my DS is 5 as well.

It really is an honour and a privilege to be a part of this blanket, and I do hope it brings you and Lawrie comfort for a long time to come.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 07/03/2012 07:58

goddam it!

Morning all, MrWubbly, I think it is the least I can do, I suppose in a small way, for me at least, I feel like I am helping by doing something that will help comfort you and your little boy. A blanket of love.

Right I am off now, as I will be blubbing again and its not even 8am.

PurplePidjin · 07/03/2012 12:49

MrW Thanks it's knowing our little efforts are useful that inspires us to keep going

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 13:35

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 13:46

Thank you, have replied to PMs Thanks

ExitPursuedByaBear · 07/03/2012 13:52

Knotty/Piste - despite your gentle encouragement I have failed to knit a square - lots of work issues at the moment so sorry to have been a let down. I will try in the future - promise....

Just checking, did the wool I sent turn up with my knitter?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 14:12

Exit Smile A let down? Not at all - you are marvellous, you've supported this blanket project for Wubbly's family, and are a Blanketeer along with all on this thread, and we thank you for that Thanks

And yes my lovely, your wool has arrived safely, thank you so much Thanks

ExitPursuedByaBear · 07/03/2012 14:16

Thanks for the update Piste. Are there photos (showing now that I have not read all this thread - will read back through later).

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 14:57

Not specifically photos of your joint squares Exit, there may never be, but there are some photos of squares on crafters' profiles. On my profile I have a photo of Idris Elba with a crochet hook and some rum. But that's another story...... Grin

KnottyLocks · 07/03/2012 16:11

Afternoon Smile

Exit, you've not let us down one little bit. Have another crack at it when you're ready to. Meanwhile we'll keep crafting away with your wool. Donors are just as important. Honest.

Idris Elba. Grin

Square arriving today from:

DonkeyTeapot Star Lovely snuggly texture, Donkey. The slightly bigger square won't be a problem at all. Smile

Also, another package arrived but will have to be it redelivered as it was too big for the letter box. New postie not trained in where to hide these things yet.

Just checking in. What was the deadline? Wanted to do 4, 2 for each blanket, but not sure if I'll have time - i've done 2, and just starting third.
sleepytime I love your square with the 'sun' in the middle, really lovely and so neat!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/03/2012 17:23

Hello August Smile

The deadline for the Wubbly family is Monday 19th March and.......
The deadline for MrsKwazii is Monday 26th March.

SoupDragon · 07/03/2012 17:45

That "other package" may be mine, Knotty, because it was wrapped in a specially made enormous phallic box was largish with both sets of squares in it.

KnottyLocks · 07/03/2012 19:00

Oh Joy. Cheers Soupy Grin
