We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

oooh knotty I have just spent too long looking at wool.

I wonder if I could knit it in another wool...

KnottyLocks · 06/03/2012 08:27

They are really lovely at Kemps. Why not give them a ring and ask for their advice?

I've spoken to them in the past and they have been really helpful.

The wool normally takes 3-5 days to get to you but there are some fantastic discount prices.

There is no way I am looking at another yarn link. Last week time it cost me £100.

3 lovely shades of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino have arrived in the post today. MANY THANKS to my donor. I'll try to figure out how to post photos when I have some squares completed. Smile

DonkeyTeapot · 06/03/2012 12:43

iceandsliceplease · 06/03/2012 13:03

Two lovely balls of Cashmerino (18017 & 18046) arrived today! Enormous thanks to my donor, I shall get cracking this evening Thanks

DaffodilsAhoy · 06/03/2012 15:49

I'm on my last one for now - six in total. I still have some donor wool left. I'm happy to stash it until needed again (I obviously hope we'll never need it) or I can pass it on to another yarn hungry knitter/crocheter. Let me know Pistey.

((((group hugs))))

I do love this woolly thread

KnottyLocks · 06/03/2012 16:35

Daffs, if you could include the leftover wool with your squares that would be great. Thanks.

wubblybubbly · 07/03/2012 00:43

Hi all, I am Mr Wubbly as seem to be called now and Im happy to be called that.

I haven?t posted earlier as I didn?t want to spoil the thread, but after chatting to Knotty she said that it would be ok.

Where do I start, We held Wendy?s Celebration of her life a week ago (that?s how we have been referring to it for Lawrie and that?s what Wendy wanted it to be a Celebration), the Humanist was an amazing man, I gave him a printout from MN and FB with the comments that were left on the threads, just to give him an insight into Wendy and the way she coped with Cancer, he actually used some of the comments left by people that had contact with her.

I have never used MN but can see why Wendy used it, the people on here are amazing. I can?t believe what has happened here, I am totally gob smacked by what everyone is doing for Lawrie and the memory of Wendy. I have printed out the thread for his memory box, so when he is older he will appreciate the effort that a bunch of people that never met him have gone to. As I have said to Knotty you have all reasserted my faith in humanity. I don?t think I can ever thank you enough for all the work, thought and love you have put into this and it?s something we will treasure, I know Wendy would be as moved as I am by this project, when Lawrie is older he will also appreciate it.

I?m not as good as Wendy at putting things down in righting, but think I have done ok and got as close as I can, to what I am feeling at the moment, and disregard bad punctuation.

Thank you so so much.
David and Lawrie

PS a virtual to you all

DaffodilsAhoy · 07/03/2012 06:30

Mr Wubbly, thank you for that lovely message which I have no doubt will have lots of us on here in tears. I'm not a representative for us knitters and crocheters (they will be up and about soon) but from me I will say I am so glad that this project has shown you some of the affection in which Wubbly was held and that trapped between all the wooliness of this project is a lot of love and support for you and Lawrie. I am sure others will be along soon to express this much better than I can!
