We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Cracking Knitting Pidj!
I'm about 2/3 of the way through my square for Lawrie. Dropped a stitch today at the start of a row but managed to save it

KnottyLocks · 04/03/2012 22:58

Evening lovelies Smile

I'm posting this here as well as on the Kwazii blanket thread as I know many of you are crafting for both:

MrsKwazii contacted Pistey and me a short while ago.

Both she and Mr K have been really overwhelmed by their thread and the fact that so many people are involved.

She says that you are all wonderful and thanks you.

How very thoughtful of her.

I've finished the knitting for my squares (for Ripsishere and me), and now I just need to sew in lots of ends, and applique the petals on to make the flowers.

Oh - and I found some lovely skirt fabric in JL when I went there to buy wool - so these blanket squares have netted me a new skirt too (or they will have, when I make the skirt).

Morning Smile

SDTG, are these like your usual leafy squares?

OP posts:
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/03/2012 08:05

Leaves arranged to make a flower, yes, Knotty. I've got two different colours of wool, so I am going to do one with each as the base colour and the other as the flower - so Rips' and my squares are related, if you see what I mean.

Evening all Smile

I've had a very lovely PM from MrWubbly

He has seen this thread and in his words, 'has been blown away.
It is a great comfort, knowing people thought so highly of Wendy.
This sort of response reasserts your faith in humanity.'

He thanks you all for your hard work.

Thanks

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 05/03/2012 22:32

oh the messages from MrsKwazii and MrWubbly made me cry.

I dont know what is wrong with me today, I could cry at the drop of a hat, usually that is reserved for Children in Need or Comic Relief documentary snippets.

Off to do some more knitting.

On a happy note, I have a pattern for an easy cardigan... HAHA famous last words. But I need super chunky wool, pattern states Sirdar Denim Ultra, but have been told that is so old to look at super chunky. Any ideas lovely knatty knitters?

KnottyLocks · 05/03/2012 22:56

Jax, I know what you mean and you know what, it's absolutely natural to have that reaction. Their messages meant a great deal to me too.

Re chunky wool, have a look at the bargain wool section at Kemps wool . There maybe something you fancy there. A word of warning though, there are some bargains to be had!

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 05/03/2012 23:31

Jax - me too :( I have sent you a PM.

It's lovely to hear from you MrWubbly (via Knotty). You do know you are welcome to post on MN yourself anytime you want to - it's nice to have men posting too and it's a great way to let your feelings out without having to do it to a 'real' person. I have been out at the shops today, there is so much out there right now reminding me of Lawrie - please give him some hugs from his MN Aunties x Wendy was much loved around here and she is greatly missed and always will be. Take care of yourself x

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/03/2012 06:49

Morning everyone Brew

The next person who sends me a PM will be sending the 700th PM for these two blanket projects. Grin

I wonder who will win that honour.....

There may be a prize....
