We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Especially for idiots who can't master crossing out Blush

AmyGurumi · 02/03/2012 07:55

Aargh Daffodil! me too last night, I'd lost concentration, missed a row and was knitting on the wrong side so had to unravel loads. Mind you, these squares are good for encouraging perfection, usually I'd just carry on Blush

Your square is lovely btw Smile

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 02/03/2012 08:00

Morning all

Daffs - you no longer need to do each word either :) Just put some --'s each side of as much type as you like!! Where are you? If you are in bed with some absolutely georgous hunk then yes, it is sad you'd rather be at home with your hook - if, however, you are at work then no, it's def not sad!!

Morning all Brew

I must be truly sad and tragic, my hunk is still in bed but I'm up and dressed in the crochet cause Shock

See you in a couple of hours

I'm afraid I won't be there this morning Sad - yesterday morning was a total World-Book-Day-related disaster, ending with DS in tears and having to be physically pried off me, me walking away from school sobbing (he's 5, so while acceptable for him, perhaps not so much for me) and I completely forgot to ask about after-school club in all the drama - plus I think it might be an idea to have lots of cuddles this afternoon anyway.

Have a lovely time, and eat a slice of cake for me!
I am debating trying this as a square because I thought it would be a lovely theme but a) it's a grid pattern, which I'd have to translate and b) it's for a 9" square, so I'd also have to reduce it. I think I'm way out of my depth...

PurplePidjin · 02/03/2012 11:09

Poor DS! DN is 4.5 and in reception, it's so hard for them and they're so little

AmyGurumi · 02/03/2012 11:17

Oh Minnie, that's sad. I've lost count of the times I've walked away from school crying after leaving a tearful ds - last times was only a couple of months ago and he's 9 now. I hope your ds (and you) are ok.
I love the tree square and will download, thanks for the link - too ambitious for me this time though, my nerves are already on a knife edge seeing if the wool will hold out for this third square Shock

MinnieBar · 02/03/2012 11:17

He decided at the 11th hour on a change of costume, wanted to be Toad of Toad Hall - so we cobbled together a costume and none of the other children (who were almost entirely dressed as characters originally from films) knew who he was. Then he wanted to go home and change, but I had to get to work, hence the histrionics.

To be fair, this time last week he didn't know who TOTH was either. Next year I'm just bloody well letting him go as a stormtrooper!!

Anyway, some judicious further searching on Ravelry has found a simpler tree pattern, still needs translating but I think it will fit! Hurrah!

DonkeyTeapot · 02/03/2012 12:44

First square done!

TimeForCake · 02/03/2012 12:55

DonkeyTeapot · 02/03/2012 13:42

Thanks! It is astonishingly easy - you don't even need to purl!

Dingle · 02/03/2012 14:22

Oh, some lovely squares done!

MinnieBar I saw that Twining trees square too, it does look lovely doesn't it! I could TRY to write up a pattern if you are struggling....cannot promise though. Will go and take another look.

On phone now but as soon as I can I will reply to PMs and catch up

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/03/2012 14:27

Waves at all at the Knit and Natter. I've just finished my first ever Granny Square and quite pleased with it, will do another one and then send them on.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/03/2012 14:39

It's me who can't purl Blush

Donkey - that really is lovely!

Yes Knotty, Chipping has taken all of her wool, Pidj is stealing it. Grin

Just about to do PMs Thanks

Jux · 02/03/2012 17:47

Started my first square (and so has dd). I think I cast on and knitted a few rows at least 5 times!! When I cast on and measured, it was 6 ins. Once I'd done a few rows, it was 8ins! Pull it all off. Cast on for 4ins, knit a few rows, it's 5ins. Etc etc etc. got it now though (and it was 33sts as originally stated Blush)! DD only had to cast on twice, so I am a bit Shock. SHE's the inexperienced one!

PurplePidjin · 02/03/2012 17:52

Train home now. Very tired and so proud of our fabulous team Thanks

KnottyLocks · 02/03/2012 18:07

Jux, she's obviously a natural. Smile

And well done you with your perserverance, Grin

I've done one 'square' but thanks to some fancy popcorn leaves/petals its come out a bit un-square. I'll post a picture later. Please let me know if you might still be able to use it.... took aaaages Sad and it's so nice.
If you can't I'm going to have to just do some plain ones and stop over-complicating things for myself !

KnottyLocks · 02/03/2012 18:19

August, I won't be able to see it tonight as am on phone and friends arriving shortly. Wot measurements?

KnottyLocks · 02/03/2012 18:21
