We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Sad Jux, we'll have to have another one when this blasted recessions over. On the plus side, dp starts a new job next week and I've signed on with a temping agency!

Glad the cherub's ok, Angel. Any fun to be had making wrist warmers to cover the cast? Or attack it with Diamante?

Kayzr, is it a tight 7 or a loose one?

OP posts:
Kayzr · 01/03/2012 19:34

I'm not sure. How do I work that out?

I need a novice or dunce hat I think.

Kayzr · 01/03/2012 19:35

Ooh my mum says I knit quite tightly if it helps.

KnottyLocks · 01/03/2012 19:42

Glad its arrived safely - am more than happy to be a donor as im not sure anyone would want my knitting or crocheting skills!

These blankets are a real sign of community - virtual or otherwise. Pity it's in such sad circumstances

sodapops · 01/03/2012 20:50

I've finished knitting my squares for Wubbly's blanket, but was thinking of sending them and MrsKwazii's squares all in one parcel so they can be mixed and matched. I am hoping the wool I ordered on Sunday turns up tomorrow so I can get them finished!

Alambil · 01/03/2012 20:54

oh good! I've got quite a lot left, so can add some more :)

kasbah72 · 01/03/2012 21:03

Yay! Glad to see my wool arrived safely. Than you so much to all of you amazingly talented people for putting this together.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 01/03/2012 21:15

No wool saga conclusion... well, today I went to get my wool. They had both Rowan Cashsoft DK & Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK... great you'd think if you didn't know me well they have the whole DB range - I kept finding colours I liked in other 'ranges' the woman kept telling me it would be fine as long as it was DK, but I said 'No I'm terrified of Knotty it simply wont do'... I couldn't decide which pink, which green, which blue.... sigh. I now have Pink 27 & 42, Cream (x2) 02 for MrsK's and Green 11, 31,40 and Blue 44 & 46. Yes - 9 balls of wool. Sigh, indicision is expensive. I also bought some bamboo needles, a new 'sewing in pesky ends' needle and a crochet hook that I haven't the faintest idea what to do with and will try out on some crappy wool. So, all in all, I think I am ready for tomorrow!! It would have been much better to ask for a donor - at least that way the wool is chosen for you Grin x

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 01/03/2012 21:18

Daffs - aren't you special St Davids Your square is lovely. I wish we could enlarge the photos - they're quite hard to see properly.

Knotty - I am envious of you getting to open up all the packages!! but not of you hooking it all together
