We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Or even if you're only thinking about it

prettybird · 29/02/2012 19:29

When I used to go to Reading on business fairly regularly, I used to go to Coffee Republic in the centre of Reading , which has some comfy seats and didn't seem to mind that I sit there for a couple of hours (if the planes has behaved themsleves in getting me there) doing work and nursing a single coffee.

MinnieBar · 29/02/2012 19:31

I am usually a do-able distance from Reading (approx an hour) but I have to pick DD1 up at 12.30 and DS at 3.15 so alas I can't squeeze there-and-back-again into either of those slots.

Unless I send DS to after-school club? ? he does keep saying he wants to go as one of his friends goes? but I'd have to get all the paperwork sorted tomorrow as he's never been before? ? .

Will you all still be there 1.30-ish??

PurplePidjin · 29/02/2012 19:34

I might make the last train home if Nessa doesn't drag me out clubbing, otherwise SIL in Maidenhead will be getting a surprise phone call at midnight

Yes, I will be on my sixth slice of cake still be there at half one, Minnie :)

moogdroog I may be your donor. Was your parcel wrapped in brown paper with half a roll lots of sellotape? Smile

I've sent out some of my ebay stash and have been riding the coat tails of other crafters for long enough! I must get knitting my own squares soon. RL has got in the way a bit though. DD2 is in plaster with a suspected fractured wrist since yesterday Sad. She's 12 though so is refusing to let me help her with anything apart from cutting her dinner up. Thank the Lord as I don't think either of us could have dealt with the trauma of me wiping her bottom!! Off to the fracture clinic tomorrow to see the specialist. Hopefully they will say it's just a bad sprain and will take her out of plaster. I have compassion fatigue already.

Morning Brew

angel - 3 of your donations have arrived. So kind, Thanks

Everything is quiet in my PM inbox, which means everyone is happy and has everything!!

Will be back at lunchtime...

KnottyLocks · 01/03/2012 07:14

Morning Smile

Off to work but will check in when I can.

Angel, hope you get some good news about DD. Thanks for all the wool you've sent out.

Tried to change my status/floaty thing over my name last night - was on my phone so I'm not sure it worked, has it??

Methe · 01/03/2012 10:00

If There are any donors going spare i'd be happy to do some squares for this blanket now I have finished the other one :)

PurplePidjin · 01/03/2012 10:04

I'm still waiting for donor wool, NoMore. Hope it comes today so I can take it to our knit and natter (GLOBAL Cafe in Reading from 11:15 tomorrow if anyone wants to come) Grin

PurplePidjin · 01/03/2012 10:05

Minnie

Methe, pop a note in saying they can be used for both Thanks

AmyGurumi · 01/03/2012 10:06

Angel, I think you may be my donor too, lovely soft green? Thank you Thanks it's very kind.

I've been peeking at everyone's squares so far, they're great - something to aspire to! I think I've boo-bood a little with my mine so far with the sizing, but on the upside, at least I understand tension a bit now Smile

Like Dingle, I found the cable was coming up short of 6", so i cast on 45st, but it's still only 5.5" wide. It does stretch, but rather than cobble some crochet onto the sides, shall I leave it for the experts? Confused I now have bigger needles so hopefully it won't happen again.

SoupDragon · 01/03/2012 10:08

Angel, that happened with DS1 at the start of September only with an ankle. The fracture clinic left him in plaster for 2 weeks, x-rayed him again and pronounced him fixed.

Those two weeks with a hopping 12 yo are not 2 weeks I would like to repeat :o

SwivellingDicksTidyWife · 01/03/2012 10:11

I have only done half a square so far but will keep going, had a very busy week with dratted RL stuff. I am doing the octopus square I found and looks good so far Grin

angelpantser · 01/03/2012 10:15

I think both of us want the fracture clinic to say that there's nothing wrong. Grin

On the down side she has been asking her big sister to fasten her bra for her and can only straighten one side of her hair

PurplePidjin · 01/03/2012 10:20

Amy, anything you can do to save Knotty a job will be much appreciated. Crochet borders and sewing in Pesky Ends definitely fall into that category Thanks

Keep it up, Swivelling. The deadlines are 19th and 26th March :)

Good luck CherubPantser Wink

SoupDragon · 01/03/2012 10:25

DS enjoyed his two weeks in plaster because he got a "bag buddy" to carry his stuff around! He was fairly bored by the end of it though.

Purple plaster BTW - looked fabulous.
