We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Vamp is a gorgeous colour. I used that for Whatevertheweather's blanket.

Bloomin cumberpatch - you lot said they were brilliant they've just sent my order with one (crucial) ball of wool missing because apparently (it didn't say on the website) it is out of stock! Now I have two lovely blues that need a third colour. I'm going to ring tomorrow and shout plead for them to send me a replacement ball ASAP. My fingers are twitching, I want to get started

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 18:39

Mmmmmmm, cheesepop Daffs? You starting a new savoury trend?

PurpleKittyKnitting · 28/02/2012 18:51

Oh I got some wool today! Wasn't expecting 2 balls! Let me check where it has come from....Cucumberpatch, a green and a dark pink

Thanks very much to my donor! I might not be able to start tonight but hopefully tomorrow!

SoupDragon · 28/02/2012 18:51

Too much time but I'll still be late with them, Knotty...

MinnieBar · 28/02/2012 18:56

Another of my FB/MN (and also from that Real Life place) dropped off two balls today so you'll be getting at least nine squares from me (between both blankets that is), hope that's ok.

For anyone lacking confidence, wanting to share ideas, or interested in eating cake Wink

MinnieBar · 28/02/2012 19:08

Always interested in eating cake but I'd have all three DCs with me so the chances of actual knitting and/or conversation would be... let's see.. slim to none, I think.

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 19:13

You're still welcome to join us, Minnie, it'd be lovely to meet you :)

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 28/02/2012 19:42

If you fancy a jaunt out with the kids Minnie, you should come. I think there will be far more cake eating nattering than knitting anyway - with or without the kids!! Grin

Alambil · 28/02/2012 19:46

Question: can we put embellishments on the squares? it's just I've added some flowers to mine, so they poke up quite a bit... or shall I remove them?

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 19:55

What Chipping said!

Lewis, the squares are an expression of you (and your donor) so embellishments are part of that. Please put pics on your profile, I have and I want to see other people's Grin

Alambil · 28/02/2012 20:01

Pidj, they're all on there - 5 so far... (the flowers are very 3d, although it doesn't look like it in the picture)

PurplePidjin · 28/02/2012 20:03

They're fab Grin

Alambil · 28/02/2012 20:05

thanks :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/02/2012 20:28

I aspire to embellishments Lewis.. Envy

Soupy darling the dates for the squares are Monday 19th March and Monday 26th March. Have you got that?
Knotty - she will be late, she is not kidding

I think vamp is my current favourite. I am quite fickle though.

Woolly wool has safely arrived from these lovelies...

Dingle · 28/02/2012 21:21

OOoo, found inspiration, started a cabled square and have knitted about 2 inches so far this evening. It's knitting up a little bit smaller, an extra 2 stitches would have been better I think but it is very stretching! lol

Hope it will be ok, I am so enjoying knitting and pleased with what I feel is an appropriate pattern...but saddened at the same time. Weird emotions going into this little square. xxx

SoupDragon · 28/02/2012 21:45

Will someone just tell me the damn deadline dates please?

[snigger]

One

Two

Three

I think the bearsquare needs another round of single crochet as it is a little on the small side.

Dingle · 28/02/2012 22:06

Oh Soupy, they're lovely! Cute bear! x

Just undone what I have done and added another 4 stiches into my cabled pattern! Blush

KnottyLocks · 28/02/2012 22:13

Evening Smile

I'm loving the squares, ladies. Good work [stars]

Soupy, I'd stick another round on the bear. He looks a little bit smaller than previous ones. If he's too big, I'll sort him out.
