We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

We've just heard that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today after an accident. She was 4 Sad

I've started a new sign up thread for it over here

However because there have been so many of you lovely people offering to make for this blanket, the chances are high that there will be some spare squares that we can also use on this new blanket.
Please do not feel you have to sign up again.

When you do send in your squares, all we ask is that you include a note to let us know whether the squares are
for Wubbly's blanket,
or the new one
or if you're happy for them to be split.

Many thanks. Thanks

Oh no. How awful.

Obviously happy to contribute to both. (Well, 'happy' seems the wrong word but you know what I mean.)

Last Posting Date for Squares for Wubbly Blanket

Monday 19th March

If you are crafting for both blankets, you can send both sets of squares together, just let me know which is which on a note/ or in labelled separate bags inside.

You can also post Wubbly's first, MrsKwazii's later on.
MrsK's blanket posting date will be 10-14 days later. (Once I've sorted it all out)

Thanks

I will put that on the calendar so I don't forget.

Alambil · 26/02/2012 17:03

oh no :( that's so awful :( :(

I have pm'd pistey...

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 26/02/2012 18:37

oh what awful news. Sad

Shall keep knitting squares and hopefully will get more adventurous with my 'pattern' of plain/purl combinations. Have been looking online and I can see all sorts of things to do with a simply K/P stitch!

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 18:44

Jax, have you done any moss stitch? They always look lovely on the blankets and feel so snuggly in the wool we use.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 26/02/2012 18:45

Oh no :( No no no :( We really do need a crying emoticon, this sad face is just not enough.

I'll post on the other thread :(

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 26/02/2012 18:50

now... knotty dont be getting all technical on me, I have a look, think "ooh lovely" and copy pattern.

I dont think I have tried moss stitch will go a googling now to have a nosy - unless you know it back to front.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 26/02/2012 18:54

oh, had a look, K1, P1 to end of row, then P1 K1 to end of row for 2 rows then K1 P1 for row 4 and repeat each 4 rows? I am off to try, will an odd number of stitches.

I am loving this knitting malarkey. Grin But obviously not for the reasons that we are doing it. Sad

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 18:57

Jax - you are a better knitter than me. I love moss stitch, but sadly purl is totally beyond me.

My PM box is empty. For now. I'm having one of these Wine

Whenisitmysleepytime · 26/02/2012 19:02

Oh no! That is such awful news! :( :(

I am happy for anything I send to go to either blanket. I'll post on the othe thread once dc are asleep.

These blankets don't half make me thankful for my dc- they'll be getting hugged a bit tighter tonight. :(

Kayzr · 26/02/2012 19:18

I've always wanted to do moss stitch but it looks complicated. I struggle with rib.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 26/02/2012 19:47

I have had a little shot at moss stitch on some wool I found, hmm, then I tried seed stitch. Think I prefer that.

pistey but I bet you can crochet? I look at a crochet hook and come out in a cold sweat!
