We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

My wool hasn't even arrived yet. We'll just keep knitting until we run out of wool, and send when we've got a couple of squares and then send again when we have a couple more....

Where do we send them?

Jux · 26/02/2012 20:18

Scratch that, just reread the PM.... BlushGrin

Mouseface · 26/02/2012 20:19

You guys are fab. I'm sending £20 in cash, £10 for each cause that has come to light tonight.

So utterly sad. xxxx

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 20:27

Mousey, as ever, you are a darling Smile Star

Thanks

Square 3 on profile.... I'm in the groove tonight!

I am thinking the green/beige/creamy combo is too dark though, so please don't use it if it doesn't "fit"

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 26/02/2012 21:06

Lewis - that square looks fab. It looks like a blue trim and a white heart to me though? Have you posted the right picture?

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 21:06

Lewis, I'm sure the colours will be fine. Some of the blues and purples are fairly dark: they'll contrast nicely with the brights and pales Smile

Yes, sorry - I meant the green/beige one further down I did the other day - the beige is not very creamy at all...

GentleOtter · 26/02/2012 21:23

First square finished!

1/3rd through the next one. It is quite slippy wool. Any tips on how to manage it better without making it sticky?

MinnieBar · 26/02/2012 21:36

Pic of my 'square' finally on my profile along with some boasting ones of the DCs

PurplePidjin · 26/02/2012 21:41

They're all fab Thanks

Alambil · 26/02/2012 21:49

that's great minnie

DonkeyTeapot · 26/02/2012 21:56

GentleOtter Maybe try using different needles? I sometimes find bamboo needles "grip" the yarn a bit better. Slippery yarn with slippery metal needles can make it really hard to get even tension. If you don't have any bamboo needles get some, they're brilliant maybe try some plastic ones?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 21:58

I have replied to all PMs, I am absolutely overwhelmed by how lovely everyone is..

Thanks for everyone X

Jax - I did try crochet. Not my finest hour.

Accepts Mousey's cookies and Wine

Well done GentleOtter - I am still on nearly one inch Smile

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 26/02/2012 22:12

Lewis - I wondered that and looked at the others, the bottom one looks light to me, cream & lime? I am sure they will all be lovely :)

Gentle - any chance of a pic???

Minnie - lovely kids square :)

Moss Stitch:

cast on uneven number, (eg, 33 or 35)

Row 1 K1, P1 to end

Row 2 P1, K1 to end

Row 3 P1, K1 to end

Row 4 K1, P1 to end

Repeat rows 1-4

So basically, change starting stitch every 2 rows.

Seed stitch:

cast on an even number of stitches (eg. 34)

Row 1 K1, P1 to end

Row 2 P1, K1 to end

Repeat until square is 6"

Minnie, the square looks lovely, as do your children Smile

How do you get the picture to go on the file? I have tried lots of times before but it is too big to be accepted. Absolute Luddite here but will try again.

It is just a plain square in stocking stitch in a rich amethyst purple.

The needles are child needles (metal). I love the size of them as they are just enough for a six inch square except they are two different styles of 4mm. One is nice and sharp, the other is blunt.

prettybird · 26/02/2012 22:50

Hi GentleOtter - nice to "see" you here Smile How are you?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 22:55

Sounds absolutely gorgeoise GO.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/02/2012 22:56

'ello Pretty Smile

MinnieBar · 26/02/2012 23:13

I always thought moss and seed stitch were the same thing that's what it says in my book anyway, just one is UK and one US.

Morning Brew

Quickly responding to some PMs, and then off to work until lunchtime. Thanks
