We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Youtube, chipping, youtube!

It's where I got all my ideas (and skills - I taught myself from the videos)

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 22:28

Ophelia - thank you!! You have mail :)

Lewis - just off for a nosey!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 22:32

Gorgeoise Lewis, simply gorgeoise. Smile

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 22:33

Lewis - it looks really good :)

I don't crochet (yet - have decided I'm going to give it a go after the blanket square!), so bare with me... why did you re-do it? Why didn't you just add another white 'frame' (level/layer/row/band???) to the original one?

Youtube - hmm OK. I didn't think it would be great for patterns, but willing to give it a shot!

Minnie - will have another look on Ravelry...

DonkeyTeapot · 25/02/2012 22:35

MinnieBar Do you mean a mitred square?

PurplePidjin · 25/02/2012 22:38

Peso is 3.5" tall, 4.5" if you include his hat.

Dinner was fantastic, we went into Bournemouth to see the Rally cars with a plan to grab some food there but it was all booze offers and chains so we headed out to Charminster which is kind of the student bit. Walk down the road and pick a country's restaurant, we tried the Egyptian and O. M. G.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 22:39

I think she probably does Donkey - a mitred square.

Alambil · 25/02/2012 22:40

Chipping - I wasn't 100% happy with the first one; it was rather loose and I used a smaller hook, so a lot of the crochet detail was lost. I just wanted to do it better for something so important :)

OpheliaBumps · 25/02/2012 22:41

Lewis mark 2 is even more fabulous than mark 1, well done you!

Chipping the file is on the way, sorry it'll take a while to download to your mailbox as it's quite big (7Mb). Took about 2-3 minutes to send, so don't panic if it seems to take a few minutes.

MinnieBar · 25/02/2012 22:42

Yy to mitred square. With an alternating rib in it. I knew someone would know the name just from my excellent description Grin

PurplePidjin · 25/02/2012 22:49

Lewis, that's fab!

To whoever asked, no getting your Mum to help is not cheating, nor is getting her to knit a square Wink

Peso is now on my profile

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 22:54

I'm going to have to look at all this woolly loveliness tomorrow as on phone and laptop's doing it's updating thing.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 23:13

Pidj - he's really really lovely. I'm sure he will be well loved!!

Lewis - fair enough! It looks really good :)

Ophelia - Thanks :) It is now downloading!

Alambil · 26/02/2012 00:50

ok so you're all probably in bed, but I've got the bug.... square 2 on my profile now. It's a much more luscious colour than the picture gives it justice, with elongated dc over the white circle bit. I like it Grin

Kayzr · 26/02/2012 07:05

Oh my Ravelry is amazing!! I really need to learn how to do more than the basics.

Purple it's me that's going to see if my mum can sort out the ends. She's a brilliant knitter and always has something on the go.

Dingle · 26/02/2012 07:35

Ooo, you lot have given me really itch fingers, I so want to get going with some squares.

Pidj, he's lovely! Lewis, your square look fab.

Ralvery, hmm, I spend more time looking than I do knitting! Blush

Right, I am going to spend some time today looking at squares so that I actually know what I am going to do when I get some wool!

SoupDragon · 26/02/2012 07:36

I have finally got started on mine. First off, my "signature" bear square :) I've done the bear (thankfully one of my balls of wool was bear coloured :o) and will do the coloured border part later.

I'm thinking of doing planner textured squares this time - most of the ones I've done before have been bog standard grannies so I'm going to branch out into texture this time. That is one other thing that's great about the blankets - they give me a reason to try a variety of things :) Although part of me feels a little guilty about the enjoyment factor IYSWIM.

Good looking squares so far though - I look forward to seeing the finished blanket!

Dingle · 26/02/2012 07:38

"itchy fingers!" look, they are so itchy I cannot even type.

KnottyLocks · 26/02/2012 08:09

Morning, my lovelies Smile

Lewis, your squares look very lovely indeed Smile

Soupy, I love the bears. Really pleased we'll have one on this blanket too.

I'll have the last posting date for squares for you later. Just doing the workings out now.

lydiathetattooedlady · 26/02/2012 09:19

Is there a deadline/postal address i cansend them too? x

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 26/02/2012 09:24

Soupy - I went to see if you had photos of your other squares on your profile and you don't - but the photos you do have are absolutely georgous Grin Will you put your squares on too when you are finished?

PurplePidjin · 26/02/2012 09:28

Lydia, just drop a pm to Pistey so she can put you on the spreadsheet :) Knotty's figuring out timescales at the moment so keep an eye out for updates
