We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Now I want there to be a woolly wool called Piste

GentleOtter · 25/02/2012 11:02

To the donor who sent me wool, a picture of the London Eye and very special chocolate bunnies, an enormous thank you and cuddle. Thanks

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 11:02

Pistey - a nice sort of warm yellow??

Chipping - a soft pink with 'diamond' chips?

Donkey is a nice colour :) I can't get Rowan anywhere around here, nearest stockist is in Reading and I loathe and detest going into Reading.

Jux - definitely will do one day :) It would be a nice drive for the day in the summer!

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 11:03

Sorry Pistey Grin

Piste should be a lovely, bright white with little diamond bits in it Grin the Piste on a sunny day!

PurplePidjin · 25/02/2012 11:14

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 11:18

Ahem

I feel the need to stress once again that ALL squares are highly valued: plain, patterned, fancy, simple, made by experts, made by novices.

The first square I made for the blankets was a simple garter stitch one. As was Pistey's. They honestly look gorgeous and work brilliantly alongside the fancier ones. They show each other off. The blankets really wouldn't look half as effective if they were all fancy.

AND these project are always about people's efforts and the genuine good and lovely intention to try to bring comfort to others.

Hear hear, Knotty! It's the effort that's more valuable than the results.

Peso is under way...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 14:02

I've started my square. Tis going to be basic garter stitch. I have done 4 rows

I tried purl, could not get the hang of that, it was a step too far I think! Grin

PurplePidjin · 25/02/2012 14:08

Hay Pistey!!

I think Peso's going to be quite big, I started with 8 and increased to 40...

Nessa says her wool has arrived and thank you Thanks

LatteLady · 25/02/2012 14:34

Hi Pistey... not received a PM yet but am happy to knit up two balls and to let the donor chose the squares of they would like to... do you need me to PM over my details or has Knotty forwarded them on to you?

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 14:37

I have forwarded them on, Latte. Smile

We're having a look at the donors at the mo.
