We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

There have also been blankets before these too and there is one currently being stitched together for Expat's daughter. That one was organised off the boards.

Knotty, that's going to make it five each ShockSadThanks

Dingle · 25/02/2012 00:03

I haven't received any messages yet! Sad Pistey, do you get a message from me please?

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 00:38

Don't worry, Dingle. She's stuffed full of curry and in that state she struggles to type.

She'll get back to you.

nearly finished square two...

trumpton · 25/02/2012 00:47

Waiting for my wool to arrive but have sourced patterns for shooting star and an owl that look good. I have ordered a purple and a grey DB yarn.

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 04:59

Trumpton, the patterns sound wonderful Smile

Lewis, steady on tiger! Grin

Well, I've made a start and discovered 3 month old DD thinks wool is great fun. Sadly this manifests by making a grab for it and grinning..... Think this early interest is promising though

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 25/02/2012 07:42

Am I to be matched up to a donor or shall I just crack on with what I have here? Doesnt matter, I have the 'bug' (knitting bug, not D&V) and am going to scour my local shops for all this knitting.

Just reading the blankets that 'we' have made, whether donors or knitters and it is very sad. Sad

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 08:20

Morning all Smile

Jax, if you PMed Pistey and asked for wool, she will be matching you up.

Thanks for that list Knotty - you have all done a lot of 'hooking up' and organising on our behalf - thank you Thanks It would be lovely to have one place with all of the photos. I remember most of them, but some of them I missed entirely :( So many... and what's even sadder is that it's only a fraction of the 'losses' that MNers have had over that time.

I am rather wishing I'd ordered my wool on line now - the local stockists (within 20 miles) either don't stock it or are out of it until after the knitting show. Bugger. I have one more to ring at 9, if they don't have it I'm going to have to order it online and be patient .

Lewis - let us know when the new pic is on your profile! Your garden looks good - I'm impressed with the speed of it once you started!

PastaBee - budding little MN Knitter you have there!!

Jax - the way things are going I may end up popping into yours for a Brew I'm getting closer and closer looking for wool!!

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2012 08:59

Chip, I'm slowly gathering photos of the other blankets together to add to the Flickr account so they'll be able to be seen all in the same place.

As you say, these blankets only represent a fraction of the sad and tragic events that happen to people on here Sad

If you decide on ordering online, I'd go with Cucumberpatch. They would most likely have wool to you by Monday, Tuesday at the latest.

ooh chipping anytime, I always have a pot of coffee on the go. Grin

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 25/02/2012 09:04

I didnt ask for wool, I just bought some online but happy to be matched and knit more squares if needed.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 09:08

Jax - I might just come down for the coffee the way I'm feeling this morning!

Right - keep your fingers crossed - I'm just about to call the last 'local' supplier. I want to start tonight!!

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 25/02/2012 09:11

Yayyy - they have some in!! Now just need to get there before every knitting MNer in the local area beats me to it Grin

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 25/02/2012 09:30

you can always come for coffee anyway chipping

trumpton · 25/02/2012 09:58

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 10:18

Morning Brew

I have just done a very naughty thing - had to take DD to a school thing earlier and took her wearing my jim jams Shock Fortunately I didn't have to get out of the car Grin

All PMs replied to, many thanks everyone. x

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 10:34

If anyone orders with Cucumberpatch before 12 they send it first class that day. They are very efficient.

And LewisFan!! That is amazing!! Lewis taught herself crochet using YouTube. Lewis - that is absolutely fab-u-lous!!

DonkeyTeapot · 25/02/2012 10:38

Have ordered my yarn - there's a colour called Donkey! Be rude not to, really... :)

PurplePidjin · 25/02/2012 10:38

Pistey, have you heard from LatteLady? I've directed her here from the other thread Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 10:43

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2012 10:43
