We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Oh Blush

That should be DARNING needle.

A large farMing needle sounds dangerous.

Thanks Jules and Muddy. Could you both PM Pistey? Thanks

I was wondering what the hell a large farming needle was. I'd have looked a right twat asking for that in the wool shop tomorrow. 'These lovely balls of wool and a farming needle please'.

KNOTTTTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I have looked, and I have looked properly but I can't find the link to the blanket photo album, please can you post it again? I need to show someone how very most basic and somewhat wonky squares (mine) fit into the grand scheme of things.Smile Thank you!

And 37 rows Grin Thank you for counting! I know what I'm doing now. Well as much as can be hoped for...

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 21:36

here you go, blanket photos

ends in or out?

Just done my first square for the blanket... it's quite "open" though, is that ok? (as opposed to a knitted one, I mean)

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 21:41

Pesky ends sewn in, if you can please.

Lewis, when you say 'open', do you mean like a granny square? If so, that's lovely.

OP posts:
ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 24/02/2012 21:43

I presume Lewis means 'holey'?

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 21:44

Quite a few crochet squares on this blanket

Like those ones?

OP posts:
ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 24/02/2012 21:45

Knotty - why do you choose to 'hook' them together rather than sew them together?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 21:56

Thanks Knots

I have replied to all messages, and PMd Jules and Muddy.
I have no little red dot!
Lots of wool is on its way now, which is brilliant Smile

Bluebell99 · 24/02/2012 21:56

Hello, John Lewis' stock seems a bit limited. Is Old White or Charcoal any good in the Debbie Bliss? Thanks.

Alambil · 24/02/2012 22:01

ok I've added a pic to my profile

I am hoping the "cream" I got is creamy enough... it looks quite dark, but then I'm in a dim room!

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 22:02

Chip, although the squares are all 6", because they are done by different crafters the tension varies quite a lot.
Some stretch more than others, some are smaller/ bigger and crocheting them together rather than sewing pulls them all to nearly the same size. I find it easier to 'condense' a larger square and slightly stretch a smaller square this way.

Lewis, that looks great Smile Good work!

I found the cream quite dark too LewisFan when i used it before, almost a beige i thought? But it knits up luvly...

Alambil · 24/02/2012 22:06

thanks :)

There's a tiny mistake on the green bit, but hey - it's made with love and my second attempt at this style, so I'm going to leave it :)

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 22:11

Bluebell, the charcoal looks too dark really. The Old White looks fine.

If you want more choice, how about ordering online? John Lewis have more online and we often use Cucumberpatch who deliver really quickly.

Lewis, we don't call those mistakes. Oh no. It's personalising creatively.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 24/02/2012 22:13

Knotty - that makes sense :)

I love whatevertheweather's blanket. How long did it take you to hook it all up?

How many MN blankets have you done now? Has anyone else 'hooked' one up or just you (I lost track!).

Lewis - it's nice :) I'll look out for it on the blanket!

Alambil · 24/02/2012 22:16

Cucumberpatch are amazing - I ordered around midnight on Wednesday night - the parcel arrived this morning!

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 22:27

Previous blankets:

Pidj hooked together Edgar's, Rinders', Blondes' and one made from spares that we are hoping to 'raffle off' for Winston's Wish.

I did some of the admin for Edgar's quilt, then Blondes, Whatever's ,apart from Magic's and up to Chip's, when Pistey took over the admin as I was up to my neck in wool and blankets to make.

Four of us made three blankets for Magic8ball: IvySedai, Lydia, Pidj and me.

I've done Whatever's and CHeese's. I have Chipmonkey's here to finish and there's also the blanket given to raise funds for Anthony Nolan.

I may have missed something along the way. Sorry if I have. Got wool brain Grin

Aw Lewis I just saw your square it's luffly!

Feeling very slow, my wool hasn't even arrived yet & you've finished a square Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 24/02/2012 22:31
