We have heard the dreadfully sad news that Chipmonkey's baby daughter died unexpectedly this week. Condolence thread is here Chipmonkey has said tonight that she would love to receive a MN blanket.

Because Knotty is snowed under a mountain of wool, I am taking on the coordination for this, so if you are a donor or a crafter needing a match - please PM me and I will match you up. I know there is an amazing army of donor, knitter and crochet stars, and I am hoping that you will feel able to help with this blanket too.

So if you feel that you can help, please PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, and I will sort it all out, and when you are ready to post, PM me for the address.

I will have to get back on the deadline...

But thank you in advance.

I've just finished sewing in the pesky ends - too late for tonight's post so it'll be on its way tomorrow.

You and Pistey are such bullies.

KnottyLocks · 14/10/2011 17:48

Yep Grin

She's much scarier than me though.

Thank you for being a darling and sorting the pesky ends. Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/10/2011 18:35

Ahem.... I am never scary. I am in reality quite cute, warm and fluffy.
Really.

Do you want fancy crochet? I've made some squares with Rose centrepieces in the Debbie (DarkPink, Pale Pink and green)

If not then I can do openwork or DC squares (have given up trying to learn to knit for the 47th time)

skinnymuffin · 14/10/2011 19:58

I have done 1.5 squares so far (beginner) but I'm hopeful I will finish the second square tonight Wine permitting Blush...

JulesJules · 14/10/2011 20:38

have finished my bunt. Now for a square or two, and Wine

TimeForCake · 14/10/2011 20:44

Ahhh Pistey great minds. Wine clink.
3 squares from a ball??! Shock Like you, I can't go back and resolve the problem so cut and start again. I am still practising on my cheap wool. My posh stuff has come through but I daren't go near it just yet!
I share your determination. But I do wish I'd never looked at Pinterest or Ravelry. Toooooo many lovely things that are out of my league. Trouble is, I have been busy buying some fabric, felt, pretty things etc ready to make a few easyish bits for Christmas, yet have made absolutely nothing so far! Best of intentions though...

However, my crochet is coming on and I shall be supplying a square a little nearer the deadline. It'll take that long.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/10/2011 22:23

Tis all going well I hope...I've only had one PM all evening, Grin Wow!!

VeryLittleGhastliness - sounds gorgeoise, are your squares 6 inches? Then yes please. If I'm being honest here, I don't really know what openwork or DC squares are Blush But they all sound marvellisimo Grin

Squares for Chipmonkey to me please by Friday 28th October

PM me when you are ready to post and I can let you have the address

Thank you so much, everyone is lovely.
Thanks

Very, as longs as the squares are 6" and in the right wool, we'll have em. Crochet or knitted. Patterned, plain, with or without flowers.

We're very eclectic. Grin

SeveredHeadsDragonTheFloor · 15/10/2011 10:41

Can't find the bunting thread as I'm on my phone but the same people are here anyway Grin. Im going to miss today's post unfortunately.

Pagwatch · 15/10/2011 10:45

Total bloody travesty.

Pagwatch · 15/10/2011 10:46

Good grief. Wrong thread.

Many, many apologies.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2011 10:53

If you are referring to the rugby, you are right Pagwatch. Sad

Buggeration! have only just seen this thread, didn't know about Chipmonkey's sad loss. Have PMd you, Rather - happy to donate again if you have a crafter who needs wool. I presume we're using the same stuff as before?

(and yes Pag, it really was :()

TarquinGyrfalcon · 15/10/2011 11:04

Just finished my 3rd square while watching the rugby a teardrenched square

I had about 3 inches of wool left!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2011 12:07

At least we now know the referee's full name....ALAIN Mitterand François Toupée Paris Chirac Petite Dominique Le Mans ROLLAND Sad AND I dug out my Welsh heritage to support the boys in red. And I sang the Welsh national anthem in Welsh even though DH was like this Hmm

TarquinGyrfalcon - I will give your square therapy and a pep talk. It will rally, I know it will, and if needs be, I'll pop it on the radiator

Very many thanks today to CandiceMariePratt you have inspired me to try stripes, tis beautiful. Thanks

and very many thanks to WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes gorgeoise crochet, I genuinely do not know how you do that! Thanks

And thank you to Northernlurker I am just about too PM you. Thanks

I know there is some wool that has yet to arrive with crafters. If you still haven't received your wool by Monday, can you drop me a PM, so I can just follow it up? Fortunately, the deadline is a way off still.

Have a lovely day all.

Guidance for working out if you have enough wool left for another square:

  • weigh your square

  • then weigh your wool

If the leftover wool weighs more than your square, there should be enough for another square.

If not, please include any leftover wool with your square when you post it. We can use it, either to put the blanket together or for more squares and flowers.

Thanks
RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2011 12:38

This is probably a daft question, but on a 6" plain knitted square, how many rows would there be?

This is me trying to work out how on earth you do even stripes.

Daffodil for all the sad Welsh folk.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/10/2011 12:46

Tempted to ask what has happened in Wales, but guess it's got something to do with rugby.

Thzumbazombiewitch · 15/10/2011 13:12

Whoknows - sure has. Wales lost to France by 1 point and a biased Irish/French ref. Bad choice of ref - Wales had just knocked Ireland out and were playing France - they should have had someone else.

KnottyLocks · 15/10/2011 14:38

Piste, somewhere between 42 and 45, on average.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2011 15:24

I'm going to say something really obvious here, please don't arf too loudly.

One just then does a bit of a sum to work out how many lines per colour? My concern is that I get to the end and find that my square isn't a square and I need to make it bigger, and it all goes tits up. Stripes just need to be regular innit. I think the thing to do is give it a whirl. But I shall have to find a YouTube clip first to see how you change colour.

The lovely one CandiceMariePratt sent today has inspired me you see.

OP posts:
Alambil · 15/10/2011 15:26

I'd have said 5 rows per colour, then switch... but what do I know, I can't even knit properly!

NormaSatansFelcher · 15/10/2011 15:35

Oh I would like to knit. Am I too late?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/10/2011 15:42

PMd you NormaSatansFelcher, but you're not too late, the deadline for squares is Friday 28th October.
