Following on from the blanket for Magic8 which is under construction, we'd like to offer one to Whatevertheweather who has recently lost her baby daughter.

I know there is already an army of knitters and crocheters and donors out there; would anyone be able to join us?

I've just done the same thing so re-posting it here, sorry! Blush
Lovely ladies, I have had a message from CheeseandGherkins about her other children's initials - they are C, M and E - so if anyone could please offer up those letters, as well as the S for Scarlett, that would be lovely, thank you.
[stars] for everyone - you're all so wonderful.

MojitoTime · 01/09/2011 15:35

Hi everyone

I haven't read the whole thread, but I have a ball of purple wool that I would like to donate if it is still needed?

TimeForCake · 01/09/2011 15:56

If you pm Knottylocks, Mojito, I'm sure she'll be able to sort you out. She has been matching donors and crafters. Think there is a certain type of wool though for these blankets? Knotty will know the details!

Peachy · 01/09/2011 18:09

Cheese

Peachy · 01/09/2011 18:14

'Wool is:

Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are much of a muchness and can be combined.

4mm knitting needles
cast on 33 stitches (for knitters)

6" squares
Colours: blues, purples, pinks, greens, silvers, creams

PM knottylocks if you are offering to knit/ crochet or donate'

(Sorry was having trouble finding the details each time so thought that others might as well?)

I've got some foxglove which is a lovely heathery pink colour Rowan wool. they will be plain as I haven't knitted since years back, but I hope they help.

KnottyLocks · 01/09/2011 18:22

Thanks, Peachy.

Foxglove sounds lovely.

Plain squares are brilliant and they look fantastic sewn next to fancier ones. They really compliment each other. The wool is so lovely...it'll spoil you!

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 01/09/2011 18:27

Cheese so sorry for your loss, like others have said your daughter is beautiful and I too hope the blanket will bring some comfort to you and your family. I will light a candle for baby Scarlett at mass on Sunday as well as one for baby Erin. You and WTW are in my thoughts and prayers.

SDTGisAnEvilGenius · 01/09/2011 19:43

I've got 3 or 4 squares ready to go, and I'd be grateful if they could be split between the two blankets. If I can knit any more in time, I will.

I just hope they provide a bit of comfort at such a difficult time, and my heart goes out to Whatevertheweather.

KnottyLocks · 02/09/2011 07:10

Morning, wow that is a very impressive list of donors and knitters. I feel a bit sad as i bumped in to my friend who lost a little girl at 38 weeks and keep thanking about whatever and cheese,my thoughts are very much with you x x

i just thought id let you know ive had the yarn in this morning. I have replied to some pms but have a lot that im tryiong to ge through. Im sending the sa me message to everyone to make it a bit quicker, i hope you dont think im being rude...i'll pop it here too if anyone wants any yarn. Any ordered and paid for before 3.30 will be sent today x x

Hi! I have had the yarn delivered this morning, have you a colour preference? I have cream, light pink, light blue, light green and lilac.
The paypal address is [email protected]
If you could pop in the message box on paypal your mn name so i know who nhas sent it.
It will be £4.58 for one ball and postage and £4.98 for 2 balls and postagex

KnottyLocks · 02/09/2011 10:18

Lydia, is that the right amount for 2 balls? Doesn't seem right.

KnottyLocks · 02/09/2011 10:30

I've PMed you, Lydia.

TinyWeeTeethGreatBigBite · 02/09/2011 11:33

Lydia I don't have a paypal account, can I still order from you? Do you have any other methods of accepting payment?

Can anyone recommend me a supplier, if I am not able to order from Lydia?

Thanks x

KnottyLocks · 02/09/2011 11:35

TinyWee, PM Lydia. I think she's pretty busy Smile

OpheliaBumps · 02/09/2011 12:34

Knotty's right Lydia, you've added the extra postage but not the extra ball of wool!

I've just paypalled you, so I'd do a 2nd payment of £3.00 to cover the 2nd ball of wool.

TimeForCake · 02/09/2011 12:38

At the risk of interfering Blush I agree with Knotty that Lydia's price for 2 balls doesn't look enough. I know she must be snowed under, so have just copied below what she said previously. Don't want you making a loss Lydia but sorry if this is interfering! At least if those of us buying wool today go by this pricing, it should mean Lydia won't have to cover all the p&p.

Copied from lydia's earlier post:

If anyone does want any let me know, same as last time £3 a ball. Unfortunately i will have to charge postage which is £1.58 for one ball, £1.96 for 2/3 balls.
(I shall now hide in case I have made a woolly balls up on behalf of Lydia :))

lydiathetattooedlady · 02/09/2011 12:39

Oh flipping heck...yes sorry its £7.98 for 2. Sorry Ive had masssive winter order in that im trying toget put a way in between customers foraging and ripping ball bands tobits!

tinywee i can do card payments? For magic8s blanket 2 donors emailed me their details and i put through and obviously deleted any details!

duchesse · 02/09/2011 13:36

Question, since this is the first time I've knitted squares for a MN blanket: Do the squares have to be plain knit or do people do whatever stitch/pattern they feel happy doing?

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 02/09/2011 13:47

Anything goes duchesse so long as you use the right wool and make it a 6" square.

KnottyLocks · 02/09/2011 13:59

Duchesse, there are some pics of our previous blankets here along with some photos of Edgar's quilt, also created by Mumsnetters. Hope it gives you an idea of what we're aiming for.

As SongBird said, any style as long as it's the specified wool and is 6".
