Following on from the blanket for Magic8 which is under construction, we'd like to offer one to Whatevertheweather who has recently lost her baby daughter.

I know there is already an army of knitters and crocheters and donors out there; would anyone be able to join us?

and I dropped a bloody stitch!!!!

trumpton · 06/09/2011 20:58

Well ! < humph> i shall just go and unblock mine then !! Grin Only joking. I have only pinned them out overnight.

theglove · 06/09/2011 21:14

Phew about the blocking.

I've put mine and Tsil's squares on my profile (I think) I hope they're ok, some of my edges are a bit wobbly, but I hope will be ok when sewn together.

purplepidjin · 06/09/2011 21:17

Meh Trumpton's dramallamaing again Hmm Wink Star

theglove, my dear, you need to make your profile public so that I can swoon in awe at your talent Star

The women at the teeny weeny post office has been doing all my parcels since magic8s blanket was started, she keeps giving me funny looks when she sees the 'name' of who they are addressed to!

lydiathetattooedlady · 06/09/2011 21:36

theglove your squares look lovely!

purplepidjin · 06/09/2011 21:47

Lydia, I have two parcels to collect from the sorting office addressed to Purple Pidjin. Luckily, my delivery folk are all absolutely lovely and know what's going on Grin it's a bit creepy knowing that the postman knows my username though, bit like being outed Hmm

Glove, those are incredible! Star

lydiathetattooedlady · 06/09/2011 22:16

Oh bums this was meant to be on the other thread!

KnottyLocks · 06/09/2011 22:48

Re blocking: I don't mind at all if they aren't blocked.

However, I really would be ever so grateful if you could sew in those pesky ends. Blummin hate doing that!

[stars] for all the very lovely squares Smile

TinyPawz · 07/09/2011 00:08

Pesky ends?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/09/2011 07:12

I'm so glad it's not just me. Hugs new best friend TinyPawz.
Knotty - can you be really specific about the sewing in of these pesky ends?

For my benefit I mean really clear!!!!

Thumbwitch · 07/09/2011 07:16

loose wool ends at cast on and cast off points, TinyPawz. :)

Thumbwitch · 07/09/2011 07:17

stick a darning needle through the line of stitches, thread the loose wool end through the eye and then pull the needle through - the loose wool end is then securely lost among the stitches. :)

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 07/09/2011 07:17

Morning, pesky ends is the 'tail' as my mum called it that's left from casting on and off, you just use a darning needle to work the tail bit into the square so it can't be seen. my mum did mine I'm rubbish at it hope that makes sense, I'm sure someone will be along soon that can explain it better.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 07/09/2011 07:18

X post with thumb who did most definitely explain it better :)

KnottyLocks · 07/09/2011 07:50

Morning all.

I'm doing my 'proper job' today. I'll answer any PMs on my return.

my wool has arrived, thanks to my donor.

theglove · 07/09/2011 13:19

Thanks, I'm relieved.

Lydia your squares are lovely, very clever Smile
I'm a novice, but might have a go at some of the patterns when the next batch of wool arrives, they look complicated!

Am just off to post some squares now.

Rudawakening · 07/09/2011 20:02

Help please!

Very new to knitting but i'm having a go at some squares for the blanket, my lovely wool arrived today from Coffeeismyfriend and I have cast on 33 stitches but it is only about 4inches in length. Do i just carry on until i have 6inches?

Sorry for the daft questions Confused

Whenisitmysleepytime · 07/09/2011 20:17

Ruda- I'd knit a bit and see. When I cast on it always loosens up after the first row or two, and it'll stretch a bit too.

HTH :)

Rudawakening · 07/09/2011 20:27

Thanks I will give that a go.

puddleofpiddle · 07/09/2011 20:33

My wool arrived yesterday and I finished the first 2 squares yesterday Grin
Thankyou to my donor for the two balls of silvery grey!
