I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

don't worry! :)

1 ball should be fine - i think i could have got 4 squares from one ball (but that was granny squares and crochet.

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 14:11

Any colour, any style! Apart from being a dictator over the actual type of wool, everything else is just a hint!

One square finished with an I on it. Next square started with an R on it.

Are you still coming to Podington Pidjin? Don't forget to call in if/when you do.

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 14:47

Oh yeah! weekend after next for VWAction - I'll find out how easy it'll be to get out, as DP works for the organisers so we'll be camped backstage and it's not easy to move cars around. Or you could come in for the day?

Hi, just wanted to let all the lovely Mnetters who have ordered wool that it will be being posted this afternoon to you. Really is so touching seeing how many people want to get involved in so many different ways, it is truly amazing x x

100years · 19/08/2011 14:59

Thanks Lydia :)

Gay40 · 19/08/2011 15:01

If there is anyone who wants to help but the budget won't stretch to wool, I have paid for 2 extra balls of wool which Lydia will send to you direct. I don't know how many squares you get from a ball though. Please contact her with your address x

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 15:22

Wow, Gay, that's a lovely thing to do! Thank you

I'm feeling a bit emotional this afternoon (my fil just died and we're going to his funeral this weekend) but I was just thinking that there's been a lot said about the "sick" society we live in - would love to show David Cameron this thread. Am really very moved by the love and goodwill on this thread and the energy of Purple and Ivy who are sorting all of this out. Really do feel honoured to be part of this.

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 15:35

Gay, if they're different colours that's great! And don't forget I'll take any leftovers for sewing up and edging Smile

I would love to help but I'm far, far away. I will see if I can buy the wool here, or whether I have any, and postage takes a few days. Is it worth it?

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 16:39

frak (are you the frak I know?) - I have been matched with a UK crafter and have ordered the wool online from a UK shop and had it sent directly to my matched crafter - if you still have a UK credit card you could do the same if you want?
If you do, message Ivy - she's the one matching everyone up. :)

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 16:40

Cherry, sorry to hear about your FIL :(

fraktious · 19/08/2011 16:42

I mean obviously it's worth it but is it feasible?

fraktious · 19/08/2011 16:43

X-posted. That could work!

And yes, thumb, I am :)

IwoulddoPachacuti · 19/08/2011 16:46

I am a rubbish knitter but would like to donate some wool. How do I go about it?

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 16:47

glad to see you - haven't seen you around for a while. Do pop into my "forrin parts" chat thread if you have a mo - it's in Living Overseas. I don't want to divert this lovely thread from its purpose. :)

Off to bed now...

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 16:55

Fraktious, you should be able to do what Thumbwitch suggested. Also. LydiaTheTattooedLady has a wool shop and is doing a deal for MNers, perhaps you could sort things out with her?

IwoulddoPachacuti, send a PM to IvySedai who will match you up to a crafty-type. Then, contact LydiaTheTattooedLady or one of the other links on the thread to order wool and put the crafty person's address in for delivery - job did!

Still working on my 8mo DS blanket that I started at 10 weeks pregnant, so I'll definately just be donating wool. Will PM Ivy.
