I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

I am so sorry for Magic8's family. So sad. I will gladly knit a few squares and will PM Lydia re wool.

kittensliveupstairs · 19/08/2011 06:49

Very sad, I've PMd Ivy with the offer of cash. Nobody would want anything I tried to knit or crochet.

pinkcupcakefairy · 19/08/2011 07:57

I've just ordered wool for my knitter, V in Lincolnshire and I ballsed up the order so you have 3 balls of wool on the way from laughing hen, as I appear to have added 1 colour twice. Hope you like the colours

Ladyface · 19/08/2011 08:16

My sincere condolences to her family and friends. I can knit and will get some wool today.

Meow75 · 19/08/2011 08:50

Pinkcupcakfairy, I think that's me.

Shall get right on it - needles are at the ready!

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 09:04

Question of the day is: Where Do I Send My Squares?

The answer is: To me, at my address which will be sent out via PM once there's a definitive list of people. If I send it in dribs and drabs, some people will get it twice and some won't get it at all because i'm too crap to keep track

If you already have my address from a previous blanket, feel free to send it straight away - but you will still get a PM with my address!! (sorry)

I'll get them in the post asap, purple.

gapants · 19/08/2011 11:48

Hi, I posted earlier. i have no wool but would be happy to knit up some squares if there is wool going about? Should I PM IVY?

TimeForCake · 19/08/2011 11:59

Yes, i did and ivy matched me up. I think she has an efficient spread sheet going, to keep track of what's going on!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 19/08/2011 12:19

sorry to everyone who is still waiting to be matched or for a reply - am catching up with pm's now, and will then catch up with the thread.

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 12:33

Ivy you're doing an amazing job in the middle of a very emotional time. Kudos to you.

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 12:56

Gapants, I thought I replied? But it was quite a long way upthread now... Yes, please PM ivy and she'll sort you out with a donor Smile

Ivy, there's no rush - it'll take at least a month to finish the project before we're ready to hand over so please don't stress about getting it all done in two days!

Gay40 · 19/08/2011 12:58

Oh I just got matched! Have the address but don't know who it is. I'll be sending the wool in the next few days though x

MmeLindor. · 19/08/2011 12:59

Just seen this thead, am on my way out but will PM you when I get back.

How terribly sad. Her poor family.

Gay40 · 19/08/2011 13:00

Can someone just help me out for speed and tell me what exactly what sort/make of wool and colours I need to be getting?

TheRealMBJ · 19/08/2011 13:04

Debbie Bliss Cashemerino DK or Rowan CashSoft DK in purples/blues/pinks

I think purple linked in the OP?

TimeForCake · 19/08/2011 13:05

I think it's in purple's original post at the top? Should be highlighted? On my phone so I can't copy and paste and nor am I a wool expert to remember the specific details! Sorry!

Meow75 · 19/08/2011 13:06

From PP's post early on

You want Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Double Knit or Rowan Cashsoft Double Knit - NOT the baby stuff, it's a different weight.

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 13:07

Gay40, contact LydiaTheTattooedLady - she runs a wool shop, has the wool in stock, and is letting MNers have it for £3 a ball with free postage!!

posterofawolef · 19/08/2011 13:24

How sad :(

I will be more then happy to knit some squares but I can't do anything fancy because I'm not good at it!

Gay40 · 19/08/2011 13:27

I am a moron, sorry Grin

purplepidjin · 19/08/2011 13:46

No you're bloody not!!!

Posterof, plain ones are fantastic. Too many fancy ones and all that cleverness gets a bit lost!

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 13:47

Awww stuffing heck, I checked this thread to see if colours were being done, saw the post by purple that said ANY colour and have just ordered a green one! Now, I see it's purples blues and pinks. :(

Does it matter? It's quite a soft-looking green...

I don't know the MN name of my linked crafter, Ivy does of course, but H of the posh horsey place in Glos, your wool is on its way. If you can perhaps work a butterfly (I don't know) that would be lovely but of course it's your choice what you do. :)

nickelbabe · 19/08/2011 13:48

no, Thumby - it's a ny colour - it's just that Lydia has mostly blues purples and pinks in the shop. :)

I've got a greeny colour and a purple.

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 13:50

I didn't order from Lydia in the end, I got it from a link that DutchOma posted Blush - I thought Lydia might be a bit overwhelmed by now and might have run out. Have I been even more incompetent? I only got 1 ball...
