I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

100, that'd be lovely - you're more than welcome to attach them to your own, though, if you like!

BTW has everyone had their say on Knotty's new thread?

I just think they're giving us the runaroun, Song. No replies to email OR phonecalls. SUCKS.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 20:38

It is shocking they're ignoring calls and e-mails. Have they sent anything to tell you it's been dispatched?

PinotsWolefCubs · 25/08/2011 20:52

Nope, they took payment and I have a receipt email for that. Since then - silencio.

Celibacyisnotforme · 25/08/2011 21:04

I'm coming late to this party but have PM's Purple and Ivy - crocheted squares on their way! I have some wool left over from Edgar and Purple's blankets but may need more...

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 21:05

Did I read that someone else got confirmation of dispatch? Silencio is bad

Mrsfred · 25/08/2011 21:07

I ordered two balls from cafeknit.com last Thursday and it arrived yesterday.

I've had my mum here for two days teaching me to knit. I didn't put my name forward until I was sure I could do it.

She took pity on me and has taken one ball home with her so you get at least two decent squares from the fred household and maybe one half-decent one (that may have been unpicked and redone a couple - three - times.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 21:10

You ordered thursday too didn't you Pinot? So really it should have arrived by yesterday like Mrsfreds.

PinotsWolefCubs · 25/08/2011 21:12

All I can think is that the colour I asked for is out of stock...but even then they should reply to my contacts. bastards

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/08/2011 21:23

Oh, and I, er, directed them here to explain what the wool was for. To show how nice we all are. As a good brand ambassador and all that.Shock

purplepidjin · 25/08/2011 21:24

Star for MrsFred, who's Pm I read before I read the thread Grin

Odd about CafeKnit. They should definitely at least pick up the phone. Emails are easy to ignore. Do we know whereabouts they're based, and do we have someone available to go and threaten them with a crochet hook ask what's going on?

gapants

I used the basket weave pattern on this site which someone else linked to earlier on in this thread

www.halfknits.com/knitting-6-inch-block-patterns/

There are lots to choose from and I found the patterns quite easy to interpret.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 21:34

Will keep my fingers crossed it turns up tomorrow, that colour is showing as available to order so maybe it just got delayed with royal mail.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 21:35

Oooo it was me that posted that site

pinkthechaffinch · 25/08/2011 21:41

It's a very good site indeed

hands out [special relevant research award star]

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 25/08/2011 21:42

thanks pink :o

Mrsfred · 25/08/2011 21:43

Pinot Probably won't help you much, but I ordered the pale pink and lilac. Mine were sent via standard parcel post.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 25/08/2011 22:18

I tried knitting today

Freezingmyarseoff · 25/08/2011 22:22

Just wanted to say that my wool has arrived today and I will send it on to my crafter tomorrow. I don't have their MN name but I have their RL name and address (won't post it on here obviously) but if you know you are getting wool from Freezing then it will be on it's way tomorrow.

Muser · 25/08/2011 22:56

My first square is done, picture on my profile. It is very curly on the edges so I shall attempt to block it to straighten it out. I'm going to do a straight knit and a moss stitch as well I think.

KnottyLocks · 25/08/2011 23:17

Blimey, you lot have been busy Grin

We had a few delays with wool for the last blanket. It all got sorted though.

Looks like I may be buried under a wool mountain very soon as Pistey's wool from Cucumberpatch got cocked up so she's ordered more, bless her. Very strange as normally the wooly cucumbers dispatch the same day.

It's all gone a bit Confused

theglove · 25/08/2011 23:55

Tsil, yes I do. Thanks very much, I'm glad to know who you are Smile

Very nice of you to send two balls as well. I'm halfway through my first square in moss stitch, and knitting very slowly and carefully as I'm world champion stitch-dropper.

I'll post pictures when done, thanks again

I'm so glad someone else hates purling. I always thought that made me a bit of a knitting oddbod - in fact my hatred of purl is why I don't knit!

The butterfly itself is coming along nicely (garter stitch on a stocking stitch background so fairly simple) but I cocked up the moss stitch border and had to go crying to my mum to help so it had to be taken back quite a number of rows. Moss stitch has always defeated me in the past but I will not be beaten! I'm about 2/3 of the way through the first butterfly square and I will do another the same. I don't think I'll manage to get 3 squares out of the one ball as the pattern is 55 rows.

Georgimama · 26/08/2011 08:05

Ivy those footprints are lovely.
