I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

Have heard back from Rebecca

They are a bit thin on the ground chez Towers today but have a chat about it as soon as they can.

She's off my crochet hook for today...

SoupDragon · 23/08/2011 16:49

Square two

I'm so pleased with him I think I may make another.

SoupDragon · 23/08/2011 16:55

It looks more than OK, Lydia!

purplepidjin · 23/08/2011 16:55

Keep that hook in reserve, Knotty, that's what they said last time! Although, I'd imagine that with all of us lot to supervise, it's pretty manic up there...

I just got my wool. Thanks to my donor, it's lovely Grin

TimeForCake · 23/08/2011 16:57

Lydia they are so lovely. The mum square has brought a tear to my eye.
Keep going everyone, these blankets are going to be so beautiful, just as with previous ones. How the blankets come together is just amazing when you think about it, isn't it?
As one or two others have said, I am inspired to learn to crochet now too. :)

(And come on MNHQ, we definitely need stars!)

Sorry, I don't wish to hijack the thread, but Dutchoma it is Grandad Burmese who is distraught, kitten used to clean his eyes for him as he is old and arthritic. Ironically we bought the kittens as he missed his 2 sons who had to be put to sleep in Dec 09.

Strangely, brother, who is the wanderer, who disappears for days, has been home all day on DH lap, who on his own admission "blubbed like a baby" yesterday.

It is so sad, we miss him, but it will be lovely to knit for someone albeit with an empty lap Sad

alibubbles · 23/08/2011 17:08

Oops. apologies, wrong thread Blush

LadyWellian · 23/08/2011 17:24

Soupy is that an actual wolef? Tis v cute.

Lydia is the chart for that amazing square on this thread somewhere? I've only looked at pages 1, 19 and 20.

purplepidjin · 23/08/2011 18:22

LadyW, switch to 100 posts per page - I'm only on P5 Grin

lia66 · 23/08/2011 18:36

I know it's MN and all that but i don't care, those kisses are deserved. Grin

lydiathetattooedlady · 23/08/2011 18:36

Soupy that square is gorgeous!
Ladyw its one that I charted myself this morningbut if you pm me your address I can send you a copy. Will chart a dad one tomorrow x

SoupDragon · 23/08/2011 19:06

Wolef? Wolef? It's a bear. To be fair, it's just a square with ears, legs and a face so it could be a wolef...

I've not found another square I like as much. I may have enough to make another two so there is one for each blanket... Decisions decisions.

BupcakesandCunting · 23/08/2011 19:35

Got Lydia's wool this morning, thanks Lydia you're a diamond. Have forwarded it on to my crafter in Worcestershire this afternoon, so whoever you are, lovely lady, it should be there tomorrow. :)

skinnymuffin · 23/08/2011 19:53

^ Likewise. Thank you Lydia, two gorgeous balls of wool arrived today. I've started my first square in a lovely duck-egg blue colour. The wool is so soft :) It will just be a plain square, I'm not exactly an expert...

I've posted a beautiful pinky/purple ball on to C in Gloucestershire, hope you have it tomorrow!

BearGryllsBra · 23/08/2011 21:16

Thanks for offering the wool lia66, have pm'd you back, I'll buy some more to complement it and get started, tis very kind of you.

Knotty, thanks for the info - will maybe use a combination of the two, will see what I can get hold of tomorrow.

Going to have a look at all your lovely squares - hope mine don't let the side down!

I think it's been great to see a thread where everyone has a common purpose. It just goes to show that whatever your opinions on everything else, you can have that shared impulse to help a grieving family.
