I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

Aww it's so sad, I didn't know Magic, but what a terrible thing to happen. :(

I can crochet and will pm LydiaTheTattooedLady and see if she has any wool left, and will happily crochet some. Have tried my local yarn shop but they only do the baby one. ParcelPiste and I were chatting on another thread about her missions around London just recently.

You are all truly marvellous.

Thumbwitch · 23/08/2011 00:55

BearGrylls, if LYdia hasn't any left, this place does it

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 23/08/2011 02:12

Ivy - I'm quite happy for my crafter to know my identity too .

You know what this thread has done? Inspired me to buy a magazine on how to knit - complete with needles and yarn.

Am in Australia so not much use - but hopefully once we return I can join in as a crafter.

PisteysInManhatten · 23/08/2011 03:36

Hello Bear.... This is a good place too x

KnottyLocks · 23/08/2011 06:59

I have been matched with Pistey. Smile

That's a funny coincidence as we've spent so much time working on the last few blankets and how to get the blankets and the Edgar quilt to their new homes. I'm normally the one telling Pistey what to get, who to send to and where and when to collect.

Pistey my lovely, I shall do my very bestest.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/08/2011 07:30

pisty - you are my wool buyer as i cock things up - who are you sending to and how do you want me to pay you for it? cheq a before as if i paypal then mr piste gains the money lol

KnottyLocks · 23/08/2011 07:37

Blondes, I think I'm crafting for both of you. Smile

DairyBeetle · 23/08/2011 10:10

I'm happy to be revealed Smile Just picking up some knitting tips from my sister (I'm a bit out of practice!) and hopefully will have wool waiting for me when I get home so can get knitting this weekend.

Everytime I check this thread it makes me happy to see so many people working together to do something so lovely, it's just a shame it's because of something so sad.

Narketta · 23/08/2011 10:20

I'm also happy to be revealed to my donor:)

pinkthechaffinch · 23/08/2011 10:21

I haven't received my wool yet but will get knitting straight away when it arrives.

Post is really dodgy up my way at the moment Sad

BearGryllsBra · 23/08/2011 10:31

Thanks Pistey and Thumbwitch for suggestions, haven't heard from Lydia yet so might just order some so I can get cracking. There's one more shop locally I can try, but can't get there till tomorrow.

SoupDragon · 23/08/2011 10:31

Thakn you for your kind comments about my first attempt!

TadlowDogIncident · 23/08/2011 10:34

soupdragon that is really pretty!

Meow75 · 23/08/2011 10:52

Ivy, I've just logged on to say I'm still waiting for mine. ROYAL MAIL!!! Angry, but hopefully when I get back from shopping it'll be here. Post arrives lunchtime here in the remote Fenland!!!

BearGryllsBra · 23/08/2011 10:55

Which of the two do you think would be best for crochet? Or are they much of a muchness?

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/08/2011 11:13

I have finished two squares (well I still need to block them), one in double moss stitch and one with a dragonfly on. Pictures are on my profile.

Am now going to weigh the ball to see if I have enough left for another.

Narketta · 23/08/2011 11:26

Hi Tadlow I'm your crafter. :) I'll let you know when my wool's arrived and put a pic on my profile of the finished squares.

ThankyouGrin

lydiathetattooedlady · 23/08/2011 11:31

I'm just on my 4th square now, still trying to work out how to upload pictures to here from phone gah! I have also charted a 'mum' square i will let you know how i get on as my charts dont always work out!
Im so inspired by the crochet squares i am going to have an attempt at one following a you tube video! My mum is a beautiful crocheter (is that a word?!) but neither of us has patience with the other to enable her to teach me!
x x

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/08/2011 11:40

I have just weighed my ball and I have 15g left (out of 50g) so I am going to risk making another square. Basketweave this time I think. I'm going to try on 4mm needles instead of 4.5mm (which I normally use to get the right tension) and then block it out to 6x6" to see if this makes the wool stretch to a third.

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/08/2011 11:41

Soup that square is fab!

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/08/2011 11:42

And yours is fab too Ivy

I am very jealous, I can knit but am not very good at crochet.

TadlowDogIncident · 23/08/2011 11:51

Hi Narketta, I'll look forward to it! Very envious of all these people who can do clever crafty things.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 23/08/2011 12:10

I think when I block them the pink mohair should settle down a bit and become less fluffy.

lydia, thanks for the parcel, I love the colours.
