I've just heard the sad news about Magic8ballhasstheanswers leaving 6mo twins and a 4yo Sad

If anybody would like to show their condolences, post here and we'll organise it. I'll take on construction again unless someone else would like a turn?

IvySedai (who messaged me to let me know) is happy to co-ordinate so PM's from Donors and Crafters needing a match to her please.

Previous squares were 6", knitted or crocheted. Blues, pinks and purples were the most popular colours. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino or Rowan Cashsoft DK (links are just the first ones I found on google) It's also available in John Lewis.

Lastly, was there anything in particular that Magic liked and could be incorporated in the design?

pidjie I could always loan you a child or two?! any excuse to break the tag team that is a 2yr old refusing to sleep at night and a 6yr old that talks non stop all day long Grin

more than happy to meet for cake and crochet again, when are you looking to start contstruction? I am back to work 5th september Sad

purplepidjin · 22/08/2011 16:38

Lia, all suggestions are very welcome and personalising the blankets to each child is a brilliant idea - perhaps we could have an R on each one?

Frazzled, pm me your free times. If you want to meet sooner in the park or somewhere so you've got an adult to talk to, let me know. I'm good at chatterbox 6yo's!

frazzled, I can parcel force you another 6 yo and the two can talk at each other at full volume all day? Not sure whether it would help, but it would certainly make life quieter in my house!

100years · 22/08/2011 17:02

Have put up the pics of the other 2 squares I have now done on my profile.

That's 3 so far.

Great stuff to the others who have done some so far.

DutchOma · 22/08/2011 17:12

Yes, I have done 3 letters, I, R and B. I was thinking that rather than have an 8 on a square, we should have an M for Mummy. After all, 8 has meaning for (some of) us, but probably not for the children. If there are indeed three balls coming to me then I should have 12 to 14 squares, then three Rs, three Ms and three of whatever the children are called, but one letter of each, so that the girl has her own blanket. Maybe three As, as I understand that is dad's name, or maybe three Ds for daddy. Whatever makes the most sense to the children, what do you think? I can post to Purple and Pidjin, if I am to construct one of the blankets

frazzledblob · 22/08/2011 17:16

mistlethrush, thanks for the kind offer.

I will however have to decline on the basis that I am sure two 6 yr olds will not cancel each other out in the volume stakes and I am sure that some health and safety law would be breeched.

I barely get much crochet done with one DC asking to help, how do you do that, can I touch this, whats that for......

100years I am loving your squares :) The purple colour is lovely.

Pidj I will have a think about times and PM you later. Going to try and wear out the two yr old in the swimming pool so I can spend the evening browsing patterns :)

purplepidjin · 22/08/2011 17:38

Oma, I volunteered you in your absence, however Ivy volunteered herself so you're off the hook Grin

I think we need one each of I, A and X. Then we need three R's - one for each blanket. Possibly some Mummy and Daddy squares too?

lia66 · 22/08/2011 18:03

Aww now I'm crying again :( personalised with m and d too. i soo wish we didn't have to do this.

You are all lovely. x

lia66 · 22/08/2011 18:03

sorry meant to say what a lovely suggestion and r on each one

JemimaMuddledUp · 22/08/2011 18:46

As I said further up, I am happy for my wool donor to know who I am.

I am halfway through my first square (paediatrician was running on time so I didn't have too long to wait, but I got some done in the park afterwards).

I have looked up the dragonfly on ravelry and am thinking about giving it a go. If it goes horribly wrong I can always unpick it and do basketweave instead!

toomuchteaching · 22/08/2011 19:04

Just to check I is the oldest girl, B and X are the twins and R is the baby magic lost. I don't think we've mentioned any Bs. A is dad but I also think M&D are nice. The 8 does refer to an actual magic 8 ball in their house but as a non-knitter I'll leave it to you crafty types. We also know I very much likes her pink, Peppa Pig, dancing, typical 4 year old stuff. And they recently went to visit a lavender farm, I don't know if lavender flowers are possible.

Thanks again to the wonderful lydia and all you knitters.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 22/08/2011 19:37

I was thinking it may be easier for the girls to know what we meant if we could work the whole words Mum and Dad rather than M and D, but I might be wrong.
I managed to fix the glittery flower square, maybe that one should be for I's blanket..

DutchOma · 22/08/2011 19:38

If I'm not sewing then there is not the urgent need to get together in September. Sad as I will be not to see you....

purplepidjin · 22/08/2011 19:50

Yes to all the decorated ones being for the older girl - 6mo twins will be at the chewing stage shortly (if they're not already??)

Aw, I was looking forward to it for it's own sake, Oma Sad

Maybe next year for one of the smaller shows? Easier for me to get in and out because I'll be camped in the pits, not an enclosed backstage area...

DutchOma · 22/08/2011 19:52

Well, yes, so was I...Sad

thelittlefriend · 22/08/2011 20:47

I think my crafter & I have worked out we've been matched to each other - happy to be in the "not anonymous" column on your spreadsheet Ivy!

Hulababy · 22/08/2011 21:15

Ivy - I am happy to not be anonymous to my crafter or on here.

gapants · 22/08/2011 21:30

Oh yes, if you have managed to match me Ivy I am not fussed for my identity to be revealed. Thank you.

purplepidjin · 22/08/2011 21:37

Everyone knows me Hmm so I'm happy to lose my anonymity

I'm more googlable under this name than my real one anyhow!

SoupDragon · 22/08/2011 21:42

So, Square no.1 it's actually the raspberry pink colour but i only had my iPhone to hand and it has no flash :)

gapants · 22/08/2011 21:46

That is so pretty soupdragon clever!

TimeForCake · 22/08/2011 22:14

Oh Soup! That is just beautiful! Thank you for making 'our' first square look so amazing! [proud emoticon] You're very talented and that will look wonderful on one of the blankets.
Don't know about anyone else, but this pairing up idea is lovely. Thanks again Ivy for organising that. :)

Gay40 · 22/08/2011 22:28

I'd like to know who I was matched with, but also I don't mind if she'd rather keep quiet.

Moanna · 22/08/2011 23:17

Just bookmarking Smile

Can't wait to get started....
