A party who finally put the interests of women first and foremost.!

What happens if a staff member feels uncomfortable about doing that?

In my case it means I avoid the use of pronouns and stick to name.

If forced to talk about gender ideology I do so in the same way I would about any other ideology or political stance ie. People who believe in gender ideology believe… however people who are gender critical/women who believe in the importance of sex based rights believe… some lgb support however other lgb argue that…

My view will likely be inferred simply because I treat it like any other issue and not something holy. Teens are well used to this kind of approach from me as an RS and ethics teacher.

If there are teachers promoting ideology then complain about those teachers as they’re not being professional or living the ethics of teaching.

Can you give some examples?

Trans means: a person's gender is not the same as the sex they were assigned at birth.

Gender dysphoria means: visible gender does not match gender identity.

45% of young trans people have tried to take their own life.

And so on.

What were the consequences?

Complaints to the Head, very public reprimand, name-calling from colleagues etc.

Thanks to Maya F, I could be confident in asserting my right to disagree. Things have calmed down a bit since because they know I'm right.

So gender dysphoria is not even being presented as the mental heath condition it is - it is now being re-interpreted in a way which confirms gender ideology. Dysphoria is now simply having a gender identity which is the opposite to one's sex. So, total affirmation in other words.

Was it a school created test or was in bought in from an outside organisation?

Hercisback · 15/04/2023 16:08

You can accept a person's gender identity yet still insist facilties/lessons etc are sex based. Like you can be respectful of a religion whilst not believing it yourself.

Schools have to hold their breath, in "fear" of making a wrong move. We need clear guidance, the piecemeal approach isn't working.

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2023 16:09

I find this emotionally manipulative.

🤷‍♀️ I try not to be a dick to my emotionally vulnerable pupils.

Unfortunately being at the start of her teaching career my daughter is loathe to make complaints about what other teachers are saying and doing. Staff tend to talk quietly amongst themselves - and they find out pretty quickly who is a gender advocate by the sort of response they get. Usually the response is a shaming kind of disapproval. She is assuming that the message is coming from, or being approved by the SLT, unless told otherwise.

I meant parents should complain.

your daughters school should have an anonymous whistleblower process if she wants to report.

Gaslighting is harmful.

The whole of the UK will never trust a charity, NHS, educator or cop again after this - they didn't trust politicians anyway.

It sounds like you work in a special needs unit or similar?

Do you ever question them on what they mean when they say they identify as trans?

swallowedAfly · 15/04/2023 16:16

We all work in special needs schools and with vulnerable kids.

Yes!

I know there were complaints at one of her training schools about the trans identified teacher running the LGBTQ+ club.

NotHavingIt · 15/04/2023 16:17

Because I don't think it is fair on emotionally vulnerable children to have a whole school assembly announcing that their gender identity is no longer going to be validated while people turn to look at them, I am a gaslighting dick?

Don't be daft.

I don't work in a special needs unit, why on earth would that be your conclusion? I work in a comp.

I haven't ever had a conversation with a child about their chosen gender identity.

swallowedAfly · 15/04/2023 16:24

NEU are bonkers btw. The extremes at the top are not the views of the majority of members. They want to ban all exclusions for example. I wouldn’t be able to find a single colleague who thought that was a good idea.

The vast majority of teachers are in unions in case they need external support in a dispute with an employer or if faced with discrimination or bullying and to have a collective way of campaigning for better working conditions etc. They use unions pragmatically and have no interest in them campaigning or grandstanding over other issues.

I don't think that's a matter of competence or otherwise.
