Ah. Double checking:

Women’s Forum Australia CEO Rachael Wong said: ‘A woman in hospital should not have to defend her boundaries from the very people entrusted with her care. The New South Wales health minister must urgently investigate why a vulnerable woman seeking emergency care felt she needed her husband’s protection to ensure her wish to be treated by a female doctor was respected.

So he did exactly what he said he would do in court.

Intentionally attempted to deceive against his patient's stated consent.

Terrible thing to do. I hope she throws the book at him.

Shortpoet · 24/10/2026 21:03

Yet again a newspaper prints two side by side pictures making it look like 5’3 Sandie towers over 6’0 Dr Upton.

Do you think it is deliberate that they crop pictures that way?

They did it at the last trial too.

And once again, she's done absolutely nothing.

All the actual issues affecting women, and 'trans woman has job' remains your priority.

Says Ug Ug Man.

The 'issues' affecting women almost always come back to male behaviour. A man purporting to be a woman thinking he can examine a woman who doesn't want to examined by a man is yet another example of it.

How fucking dare he.

Still I'm sure he's made copious notes about her. Who knows, he might even revise his notes to make the 'literal violence' towards him appear even more egregious obviously he would never do that.

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 24/10/2026 21:15

Australia has clearly gotten itself into a precarious position with these issues recently. There really is no direction for this to go except down, because what the activists actually want (the end goal being "let us do whatever we want") will never be acceptable to society once they realize. The concern is how many people (women and children, mainly) will be damaged before society in Australia puts a stop to it. They are years behind the UK, unfortunately.

Oh, you know what? That's revealed my blind spot: I didn't even notice that the poor woman had been brutally misgendered. Must report for re-education immediately.

Also, the next para in the article starts with:
Other colleagues have been more welcoming of the trans doctor ...
so I think that's where I assumed the staff member had been negative about DU. I didn't notice the brutal misgendering either. DU must be all man in my conscious and subconscious brain!

She hasn't, but he has. She just wants to be treated with dignity and her consent respected. He just wants everyone to "accept" him as a woman.

Yes. like the comment about how lovely he is to work with.

I'm sure he is lovely, right up to the point where you're a woman who needs to thwart him expressing his identity choice using your body, to put it bluntly.

I do wonder whether Upton was the bloke I saw in A&E at the Vic the night before his encounter with Sandie Peggie. If so, he was a big lad.

NearHit · 24/10/2026 21:31

Maybe it’s a good thing he’s gone to Aus, the daily mail know they’ve got click bait in their hands, he’s never going to escape. And god knows the misogyny island Australia needs all the help it can get - odious pricks.

I really feel for the poor patient though, lucky she’s got a husband. They respect men there.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 24/10/2026 21:36

NotAtMyAge · 24/10/2026 20:57

Oh, yes he has. He's made it clear that he will treat a woman who has specifically asked for a female doctor with the expectation that means a biologically female one, not a man with womanly feelings.

He even said as much during the SP case.

Reminds me of something I read that said not all coaches are paedophiles but all paedophiles want to be coaches.

He is an opportunistic predatory man which is precisely why he's moved to Australia because they've provided the perfect loophole in their legal system for him to continue rolling allover us silly women and our silly boundaries.

There, fixed it for you.

Nurse Peggie is a nasty piece of work.

Dr Upton is by all accounts a good doctor and a nice person, but needs to stop conflating biological truth with gender identity imo.

The patient in Australia has the right to be treated by a biological female.

JanesLittleGirl · 24/10/2026 22:16

Yer man is an absolute gobshite and those that enable his revolting behaviour are even worse.

Is this the Australia that Australians are proud of? I don't know and it isn't my position to tell Australia how to manage its society.

How is she a nasty piece of work?

’Good’ doctors don’t lie and deceive patients. Do you know him personally? He seems absolutely abhorrent.

This is a great example of the top-down world of trans demands. There is little support for it at the ground level - it is being imposed on us by our institutions

No male person who uses a female single sex provision knowing female people object or are likely to be uncomfortable is a ‘nice’ person.

No male doctor who has told people he would present himself to a female patient who has asked for a female doctor, as this man said he would do while at the time he was working for NHS Fife, is a ‘good’ doctor or a nice person.

The evidence is right there is Upton’s own actions and testimony.

murasaki · 24/10/2026 22:31

Maybe the meaning of nice person has changed, and it now means boundary crossing delusional arsehat.

Good male doctors and nice male people don't

  • Lie under oath in tribunals.
  • Or, want to (and admit they will continue to) sexually assault female patients who have requested female intimate health care.
  • Or, try to bully women into getting undressed in front of him.
  • Or (apparently) cause a ruckus because a female dementia patient is able to accurately sex him and refers to him as a male person.

That's Dr Upton during his extremely short career (relatively speaking) so far.

Then you have Sandie Peggie. A nurse with more than 30 years of unblemished service under her belt, who from what I've heard anecdotally is compassionate towards all patients under her care, and is highly capable at her job.

I know who I'd rather be treated by, and it wouldn't be the "good" doctor.

Edited to add a "more than"

itstoolateforsnacks · 24/10/2026 22:50

Fortunate for this patient that she had her husband to advocate for her. How many female patients has he treated in the 6 months of working there who haven’t felt ok with it? No way to know but women must be able to ask for same sex care.

NebulousSupportPostcard · 24/10/2026 22:52

So what happens when a trans person changes their name a second time? Will it be dead naming for Kate Searle & Co to refer to him as 'Beth' if the case against them reaches a tribunal? Do the usual Apology Rules apply (correct yourself whilst bowing reverently but move straight on so as not to cause additional distress to the person literally genocided by your mistake)?

Oh god, it's a minefield.🤣

Agreed, you are being totally disingenuous.

However, it's a plus. Australia, a country that has drunk the kool-aid on this issue, will now be confronted with the real issues involved.

And we know who will win.

Helleofabore · 24/10/2026 22:55

It is very true that some people have their own personal definitions of kind, nice, and inclusion. Just like people have personalised definitions for ‘coherent’ and ‘discussion’ as well as female, male, girl, boy, woman, and man.

So, when someone describes a man who ignores female people’s boundaries as nice, I would think that they are someone who misuses the term to make themselves feel better about their own opinions.

alcovecupboards · 24/10/2026 23:04

There doesn't appear to be any suggestion that she's done anything wrong - just that a patient requested a female doctor. No row, no argument - just a patient making a request and then her husband staying with her - which he would surely do anyway.
