Sandie Peggie: Employment Tribunal, associated legal claims, and related matters - thread #67

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims were of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claimed to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and after a prolonged process judgment was handed down on 8 December 2025. That judgment is being appealed and an appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027.

A second Employment Tribunal, Sandie Peggie vs Royal College of Nursing, has just been heard. The hearing started on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and ended on Thursday 1 October 2026. It is possible that a decision will be handed down before Christmas of this year.

Additional legal claims have been raised. Sandie Peggie is taking action against three senior managers who were witnesses in the first Employment Tribunal - Dr Kate Searle, Dr Maggie Currer and Esther Davidson, against Carol Potter, the chief executive of NHS Fife, for victimisation, against NHS Fife for discrimination, and against its director of people and culture David Miller for harassment. In addition, Sandie Peggie is being investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council over fitness to practice.

You can put oats in a blender and make your own (cheaper) ready brek. Tesco sell Smash.

Smash is available but you can buy potato flakes much more cheaply.

Sorry but cereal is the work of the devil - greek yogurt fruit (sliced bananas are fine) and a bit of honey. If you really really really have to a scant dessertspoonful of granola on the top but its better without.

That's very strange of Upton, considering that when I needed a gynae procedure (in Fife) the male consultant told me that I could stop the procedure at any time at all.

Sounds like Upton doesn't follow guidelines.

I'll add that I had disclosed being the victim of an assault as a child and the staff involved in the procedure took that plus my age into consideration. `(Age is relevant because it's more likely to be difficult for older women.)

Coupled with the posting habits sort of suggested they are down under.

Anyway it was a very strange set of arguments about toilet and changing room provision (ignoring legal cut and paste from GLP arguments)

I just think we provided him with a source of entertainment.

Back to SP. I thought about this a lot before saying it, but having read all the tweets and NW I felt a few of her replies were strange, like she was more vulnerable and dampened down. I just worry that pushing so hard, as she is doing, against all those that have harmed her and for all of us, is taking its toll.

I make my own porridge/muesli mix - eaten cold in summer, hot in winter. Mixed seeds, mixed dried fruit, sometimes coconut shreds or flaked almonds. Exact composition varies but the consistent factor is jumbo oats rather than porridge oats so it has plenty of texture.
