Reality Rules Parkrun Launch 3 October 2026

IwantToRetire · 31/08/2026 00:48

Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

My answer is that parkrun is a community event. I - like parkrun itself - care more about the whole community being welcome to participate than I care about records and who holds them. It’s not designed to be a race; it’s not athletics or the olympics or any competitive sport. It’s a lovely, inclusive community event that some people seem determined to spoil for everyone 🤷‍♀️

But you don't care that women are self excluding, or that we don't find it 'lovely'.

Yes yes, inclusive, unsafe, not a race. You've said all that. Can you answer the perfectly reasonable questions that I asked though? It should not be at all difficult, given you have the courage of your convictions.

I do agree there’s no need to share this data. parkrun also agrees.

So why are they sharing the data?

ArabellaScott · 02/10/2026 14:26

I must say it's great that this thread is being kept bumped. As long as it stays on the front page of FWR, it will be getting lots of views and hopefully more women will be emboldened to sign up to Reality Rules.

But you don't care that women are self excluding, or that we don't find it 'lovely'.

as I say, there’s very little (if any) evidence that women ARE self excluding.

I do understand that sometimes different groups need different things to feel included / to be able to participate, and sometimes those things are at odds. Not being able to solve a problem for every group doesn’t mean not caring about the other group (why wouldn’t I care about women? I am one!)

In this particular case I think the stakes are higher for trans women (more likely to be unsafe participating if they have to out themselves in away) than cis women (they might not come ‘first’ at a non competitive community event).

iwishitwouldstartraining · 02/10/2026 14:28

To be clear, the independent website is organising the data, but they are getting the data from parkrun.

I am right here, telling you I'm self excluding.

And the stakes are that I am too scared to out myself at my local parkrun, because of an aggressive 6 foot 5 trans activist in my town.

Do you not think that a first finisher result is rather outing?

You seem very focused on the idea that trans people can only live a narrow life where their sex must remain a secret. I don't think this helps anyone.

the link to the page not published by, endorsed by, or associated with parkrun you mean?

Facebook pages for local runs are set up automatically by Parkrun and have to abide by strict social media standards. All password and admin details are shared with Parkrun HQ. That is why they can use their branding.

I'm not sure where you've got the impression these pages aren't endorsed by or associated with Parkrun. They are and they publish course records

Posters have already explained (several times) why no TIM will be outed.

Your continued silence on my other questions speaks volumes, and is absolutely as I expected. Once the consequences of being kind to the boys and men and giving them what they want at all times has a big old light shone on them, it becomes clear that women and girls are being utterly shafted.

The ones spoiling it for everyone are the entitled males registering as female. Unless your definition of everyone is “the men”. In which case it sees to be that you don’t recognise women as fully human. Which makes you a ….., (insert your preferred word here …).

Nothing that women are asking for undermines the community, unless you are incapable of seeing women as full members of the community.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. You have no idea, and at least one woman on this thread has told you she is.

And I’ve told you that if you go looking for it, you will find evidence that multiple women are self excluding and have done for some time. I’ve told you that some women have even asked parkrun to delete their entire run history. If you don’t believe me, you can easily find these women commenting under the social media accounts I mentioned upthread.

However, you clearly place the wants of a few men above fairness for women so nothing anyone says regarding the hypocrisy and double standards of parkrun, and the fact that they do market it as a race when it suits, is going to convince you otherwise.

You might want to message parkrun HQ and ask them not to publish any more records in the press in future if it’s not a race. And of course they may out a poor TW in the process. How many people would have heard of Lauren Jeska had he not raced in the F category (and then stabbed his coach in anger at being told his eligibility to run in the F category in races was in question).

I am a cis woman, and I do think of myself and other women (including cis and trans women) as fully human.

We’ll have to disagree on who is spoiling it. I think a community event that has welcomed over 3 million women globally as participants or volunteers IS serving women (and has done a lot more to increase women’s participation in sports than any gender critical activism). You disagree.

Again with the outing. To repeat

Parkrun participants don’t wear their names when running, so how would they be outed. How would anyone know who ‘Eileen Jones M’ was? What prevents Eileen not specifying their sex at all? What prevents Parkrun retaining ‘inclusivity’ by not making tables of male and female runners public? Why does the default way of being inclusive have to disadvantage female runners?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/10/2026 14:48

GreyskySexRealistsky · 02/10/2026 14:02

A what woman?

A silly made up genderist jargon word that means nothing outside their ideological worldview.

iwishitwouldstartraining · 02/10/2026 14:48

Parkrun HQ really need to get on top of the competitive spirit exhibited by these rogue parkruns.

I assume that as soon as somebody makes them aware of it they will be having sharp words with the instigators.

But really, they only have themselves to blame when they keep collecting and sharing all this information for no apparent purpose.

No one is denying that a TW is “fully human”. What an odd thing to say.
We just don’t believe you can change sex. And therefore TW should run in the M category.
