Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

I jumped on to point put the ridiculousness of your laughter at 2 small dogs on a lead but no similar 😂 about the ridiculousness of men competing unfairly in the women's category.

The second part of my post asked you how many men should be allowed to hold the PR record in the women's category. How many would you say?

I'll also throw in another question for the lolz. Should men in their 40s be allowed to hold the record for the 70s or early teens categories?

Edited

Yeah I still don’t think you’ve quite followed the thread of that exchange and the difference between safety and fairness . Never mind!

parkrun doesn’t actually publish speed records (since Feb 2024, because the community element is most important to them) so your question is redundant.

Oh I followed it perfectly.

Given the speed records are out there, how many men should be allowed to hold them for the women's category?

Should 40 something men compete in the other age categories I listed - or would that be wrong in your opinion?

They’re not. parkrun speed records are not published. Because it’s a community event, not an athletics competition.

What figure out the total of zero (because none are published) are you expecting me to give you?

GreenwayHouse · 02/10/2026 13:51

I must be going mad then because I’m sure when people break a record at parkrun, it’s all over the news!

Let’s try another question then:

How many men/boys should be allowed to hold a first finisher position in the female category?

Yes the records are out there.

I'm not actually expecting anything from you because to give me a straight answer would undermine every argument that is put forward for men being allowed to take part in women's sports, and shows how ridiculous and unfair it is to women.

HAVE they though? I don’t think theres any evidence women are self excluding.

Unlike single sex space arguments or arguments about boxing, i don't think anyone is arguing that trans people participating is unsafe. So you’d only self exclude if you SUPER cared about winning your category…. And I just don’t think that’s the main reason most people participate in parkrun.

Also your point relies on all reasons for self excluding being equal. Someone self excluding because they might not win versus a trans woman self excluding because it would be dangerous if she has to out herself as trans are not the same.

I don’t think theres any evidence women are self excluding.

Ah, an opportunity to remind people that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I walked out of a shop today without buying anything, because there were no dedicated women’s fitting rooms. Did I tell anyone? No. But I self excluded from that shop.

Actually, I think I’ll contact them online (H&M).

It’s very Google-able that park run doesn’t publish speed records, and hasn’t since Feb 2024. I’m sure you’re not going mad, but I’m not going to dispute that people have imagined a problem that doesn’t exist.

I sort of don’t really mind re your second question - as I say, I think the primary purpose of parkrun is to be an inclusive, community event, rather than a race or competition.

Also demonstrates how little attention some people pay to women and girls. I’ve seen plenty of women say that they have self excluded because of this issue. But some women’s voices are too high for some people (men) to hear.

I’m a cis woman. Are we back to accusing women who disagree with you of being men?

I don’t recall accusing you of being a man @Canadanian
Your use of cis woman is very telling. You’re fully bought into the trans agenda and clearly prioritise the wants of a few men over all women.

You implied it when you said I hadn’t listened to women and then said ‘But some women’s voices are too high for some people (men) to hear.’

You might have plausible deniability, but I saw it. Don’t be sneaky… we’re having a conversation and I don’t think I’ve been disrespectful.

So absolutely no truth in any of those stats? You 100% sure? Well, if I were you, I would contact the community and tell them they're collating false stats from local runs immediately!

Now, back to my other questions, and remembering that what's online stays online (even from pre Feb 24), are you going to have a stab at answering them?

So the records are out there? Yes? Or are you suggesting they are lying?

Here's one of the most recent records on the official Facebook page for that run. You'll accept then that Parkrun are publishing them on social media.

It does however demonstrate that participants still value the ability to compare results, and if parkrun published speed records until 2024, that for the first 20 years they understood that people were interested in this information.

But if the focus is now on being an inclusive, community event, not on enabling people to compare times, then I am sure you will agree that there is no longer any need to share this data.

My answer is that parkrun is a community event. I - like parkrun itself - care more about the whole community being welcome to participate than I care about records and who holds them. It’s not designed to be a race; it’s not athletics or the olympics or any competitive sport. It’s a lovely, inclusive community event that some people seem determined to spoil for everyone 🤷‍♀️
