Reality Rules Parkrun Launch 3 October 2026

IwantToRetire · 31/08/2026 00:48

Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

A silly made up genderist jargon word that means nothing outside their ideological worldview.

It's odd because you would assume that most people who wish to classify their gender would describe themselves as non-binary. I think this 'cis' business might have something to do with trad wives.

I am a cis woman, and I do think of myself and other women (including cis and trans women) as fully human.

We’ll have to disagree on who is spoiling it. I think a community event that has welcomed over 3 million women globally as participants or volunteers IS serving women (and has done a lot more to increase women’s participation in sports than any gender critical activism). You disagree.

There aren’t two sexes of women. There is no such thing as a “cis woman” because a “trans woman” is a type of man, not a type of woman. A “trans woman” logically speaking, is a biological woman who identifies as a man.

No one is denying that a TW is “fully human”. What an odd thing to say.
We just don’t believe you can change sex. And therefore TW should run in the M category.

Indeed, we assume that everyone who is 'fully human' has a sex.

Pleeeeaaaaaase read the posts I’m replying to 😩 you’ll see I was accused of not thinking women are fully human by one of your pals.

I do agree it was an odd thing for them to say though!

I am going to head off now for two reasons….

  • people don’t seem to following threads of conversation, which is boring
  • we’re at the stage where everyone is saying ‘once again’ all the time, because we’ve all made our points and we still disagree. That’s life - no point going round in circles!

I love the idea that transwomen are outed by doing parkruns.
Eddie Izzard did 43 marathons in 51 days, but sneakily he avoided adding in a parkrun or someone may have suspected something.

You can only push the practical difference between

"they publish speed records"

and

"they share the data that enables local park runs to publish speed records"

so far.

I’ve linked to their press release / blog about why they don’t publish speed records. Did you read it? I’m not their head of comms, so if you think their comms is inaccurate, take that up elsewhere 🤷‍♀️

I’m also going to leave this particular chat because these discussions ultimately always just end up stuck in the weeds / fixated on something that matters very little to the wider arguments, and even less to the lives of either cis women or trans people.

  • In your opinion (which you have expressed repeatedly on here and shown how little you value women and girls compared to TIM).

The records are clearly published on Parkrun endorsed Facebook pages. They are out there.

I guess I will never find out...

Parkrun participants don’t wear their names when running, so how would they be outed? How would anyone know who ‘Eileen Jones M’ was? What prevents Eileen not specifying their sex at all? What prevents Parkrun retaining ‘inclusivity’ by not making tables of male and female runners public? Why does the default way of being inclusive have to disadvantage female runners?

Sad times

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/10/2026 15:09

Why all the special pleading for selfish, entitled men? It was dodged before because i referred to them as “cheats” which they are, but leaving that aside, why?

So many questions...so few actual answers that go beyond 'be kind to men and give them what they demand'.

Yes, we know what they have told the press. The problem is that if you make the data available to participants with the full knowledge that they will publish speed records, it's just a technicality.

and even less to the lives of either cis women

I agree that these women who identify with gendered expectations are probably too busy churning butter. Also difficult to run in an apron.

However, I do think it matters quite a lot that people are being told that their happiness depends on hiding their sex. That seems cruel and inhumane.

Cadeaukatze · 02/10/2026 15:14

The overall record is published by parkrun UK on their Facebook page - I think Ciara Mageaan holds the female one, not sure about the men's one without looking it up.

Some of the events will say on their Facebook page if someone has broken the course record.

But they are not on the parkrun website anymore. They are, however, on the parkrace app. and I think on the official parkrun app top but I don't have that one.

I don't know who the trans women are holding womens records other than Jeska.

GreenwayHouse · 02/10/2026 15:39

Just want to point out the irony of someone self excluding from the chat because they say we’re not listening to them.

Mara Yamauchi publishes the numbers that she knows of (but not the names) each week. She has a pretty good idea as she has been monitoring it for some time.

SirChenjins · 02/10/2026 15:43

The UK record is held by a female international athlete who only does PR once or twice a year!

Ellie Davies is another TIM who holds a record in the female category. Interestingly, he ran the London Marathon as a man - so obviously not worried about feeling unsafe in a far larger crowd. Funny that.

The thing is, we'll never know for sure how many men are cheating out there.

Chooseyourownadventure · 02/10/2026 15:51

I have been lurking on this thread and I am not going to attempt to change any views, simply going to state I am a runner, a runner who does spend too much time looking at her own stats, plus stats from ‘proper’ races and parkrun. Yes, it is important to me, am I ever going to come first in my age or sex category? No. Depending on the event I can get in the top ten or 200 plus. I have spent a lot of time thinking about registering with Reality Rules as a second club for the results but I am afraid I am concerned about outing myself and getting abuse. Quite ridiculous.

Parkrun is very competitive for the more able runners, and extremely valuable at offering a free to use (parking charges and coffee afterwards is optional) social event. I have a talented child who was spotted and was advised to join a more structured athletics club. The event is a way for grassroots talent to be spotted and nurtured. We do look at course records before visiting a run, mainly so my child can take on a challenge ( they aren’t a 5000 metre runner, more an endurance so 5k is speed work). Have I encountered any trans runners? A few, not many in my age category. Would I be upset if they ranked higher in my age and sex category? Absolutely. If I see anyone wearing a Reality Rules t-shirt tomorrow, I shall make a point to acknowledge but I am clearly a coward but the circular arguments on this and other discussions are silly. It shouldn’t matter registering in your birth sex, not registering in this means your personal stats are wrong, let alone everyone else’s. Runners love stats.

JHound · 02/10/2026 15:59

Isn’t Park Run just a fun run?

They don’t even request evidence of anybody’s sex. You turn up and run. If you want a time you go online and register but you can register as whatever age or sex you want. (I actually think I an in a different age category on my Park Run when I lived overseas!)

I cannot understand making a fuss about something you have no way of policing?

Heggettypeg · 02/10/2026 16:06

PollyNomial · 02/10/2026 09:40

Using gender acknowledges that a group may contain people who are different sexes. Using sex when participants aren't tested is likely inaccurate.

Then both are equally useless in the context of parkrun and may as well be scrapped.

Perhaps it would be more “fun” if they got rid of any personal info at all then, otherwise there’s clearly a competitive reason for it, isn’t there?

GreenwayHouse · 02/10/2026 16:11

Please register @Chooseyourownadventure

I am slightly worried about the same thing, but the more of us to sign up, the more safety in numbers there is. Plus, if you are afraid to sign up, doesn’t that mean that the TRAs have won?

I signed up a few weeks ago because I am sick of it and am ready to speak out. I will be wearing a T-shirt tomorrow too. I probably shouldn’t be running as I have been very ill week but I’m going to drag myself round so that my results get recorded for RRR .
