IwantToRetire · 31/08/2026 00:48

Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

Your bingo dabber is busy tonight alcove - you're almost at a full house there.

You are a woman? Or a pretend one? Because you sure don’t seem to like women very much. There’s lots of internalised misogyny going on with you.

I am. And a mother. One that gave birth and everything. But obviously because I don't believe in hating trans people, I must be a man, or a TRA or someone called Aipa. I do lose track.

alcovecupboards · 01/10/2026 22:27

Oh I see the mass reporting it back by the Mean Girls. How upsetting.

GreenwayHouse · 01/10/2026 22:28

Why is alcovecupboards hanging about on this forum? Why is he (?) so belittling of women?

Must have serious issues with some of the women in his life.

Trans and wants to be a woman and know he can’t be?

If AC is a woman, then there’s some serious internalised misogyny going on. Also issues with the people in his/her life that must have passed on the message that women are not as important.

Just signed up for Parkrun.

I was surprised that

  1. You have to declare your 'gender' (or 'prefer not to say'), there's no option to just sign up without one.
  2. It seems to be harvesting data for sale to advertisers.
  3. Lots of sponsorship.

I got a funny feeling that the 'it's all for laughs' is actually just branding. It seems quite bossy, and concurrently mercenary. And from the aggressive dismissal of women's complaints, seems very blokey.

Anyway.

‘Prefer not to say’ IS the option to ‘sign up without one’. Obviously.

I'm fascinated by this argument. Is every woman who disagrees with you a misogynist? Or are they misogynist because they disagree with you? I suspect it's the latter because you've utterly convinced yourself that you speak for all women. You don't. Your little gang can't even muster up 500 people to back you out of 200,000.

GreenwayHouse · 01/10/2026 22:30

I don’t hate trans people. I’m just asking for fairness for women and girls. You are extrapolating it to hate. That’s some reach going on. This is where TRAs don’t help themselves. Your hyperbole sounds ridiculous.

I hope you don’t have daughters. You will be giving them the message that they don’t matter.

It's utterly mad. Even with the option of not giving one isn't enough. They want trans people erased.

This is a forum for discussion about sex and gender - there’s not a rule everyone on it has to agree with you, and it’s not a private members club. Why shouldn’t alcove be here?

No it's not - it's starting from the position that participants have a gender but don't want to say which one.

No. I'm pointing out the hate that some of you are so blinded by you insist isn't hate. It's how radicalisation works. Sorry, 'peaking'. Which is the fancy Mumsnet term for radicalisation.

It's not a service though. It's group organisation enabling people of all abilities to amble round a park of a Saturday. Hyper-competitive people spoil it for the rest of us, as do bores who don't understand what the word "inclusive" means.

Scapegoating a tiny minority as saboteurs is as antithetical to the spirit of Parkrun as making it a competition. The whole point is to exercise at our own pace without judgement, whoever we are. It's a safe space to be yourself.

Hope everyone at your alternative has fun, especially if it means you'll leave the rest of us the hell alone.

Parkrun receives government funding and makes extensive use of local council and other government funded services. All of these bodies have equality duties and must comply with the law.

Again, parkrun could remove the ability to compare results with other runners if they wanted to get rid of the ‘hyper competitive bores’.

Yet they don’t.

You cannot choose when sex or any other kind of discrimination is lawful.

Like women with very much alive husbands cosplaying as widows for attention? But that's fine, right? No need to go to the pesky trouble of having your husband die and having to tell your children that he's gone. Just say you're a widow apparently and the great Mumsnet feminists will back you up and attack real widows.

Not content with trying to use the gang rape of a young woman to make some sort of point about feminists you disagree with, you once again try and demean other women. This time using marital rape.

You claim

The Supreme Court once upheld the right of men to rape their wives

Boldly parading your feminist credentials by telling us you ‘disagreed with that too’. Questioning whether other women did.

The problem for you is the Supreme Court of the U.K. wasn’t established until 2009. The ‘right of men to rape their wives’ was overturned in 1991, by the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords, the precursor to the Supreme Court.

You’re a disgrace, and an incredibly ill-informed one at that.

And you can get worked up about that? Goodness!

anyway, ‘prefer not to say’ could mean ‘I prefer not to say because I don’t share personal data’ or it could mean ‘I prefer not say because I don’t believe in the concept of gender’. You have to really, REALLY want to have an issue to complain when you don’t have even have to provide a gender.

On a discussion forum about women’s rights this person is coming on to defend the rights of a few entitled men over the rights of 50% of the population.

It’s no different to the nastiness and abuse that women have received on other social media platforms for asking for fairness for women and girls. I don’t see polite disagreement. I see misogyny, belittling and nastiness directed at women.

Anyway, some people thrive on the attention and I suspect that’s happening in this case so I won’t engage anymore.

Usually people on here pretend they don’t want to exist in an echo chamber! Kudos for the honesty I guess.

Oh noes, I have been caught out in an illiteracy! I am so ashamed.

Meanwhile, men still cannot become women, female people still exist and matter, you are still trying to distract from your nasty comment, and any movement that requires us lump together transwomen's feelings and female people's bodies like they are somehow the same thing is still just sexist claptrap.

Nope - but we are all one of 2 sexes. That should be the starting point for Parkrun.

But the Supreme Court can't be wrong, right? And if you want spaces to yourself - and women aren't asking, a small group of 485 names on a website (out of 200k) are - then maybe don't start with public parks. Or do you think that Parkrun has separate races for the sexes? Almost as batshit as the woman demanding hills were made single sex because she didn't want to hike near any trans women in a trans inclusive group. Bigotry does rot the brain.

The Supreme Court interprets the law as it stands. It does not create legislation. You should certainly contact your MP if you wish to change legislation.

Quite! They really cannot cope with women telling them 'not in our name'. Well tough.

When did they put it to a vote?
