Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

I think you are trying to distract attention from your nasty comment.

What, by making a long series of ever nastier comments? This poster is just trying to get a rise. Ignoring is best, pps are correct.

It’s so joyless to see a fun, inclusive running EVENT (and it’s a community event, not a race or competition) and think ‘GREAT - I’ll campaign to make sure a group of people are made to feel unwelcome’.

There was a guardian article when this first kicked off that I think summed it up well: The proposed parkrun ban is – short of genital inspectors in the token queues – basically unenforceable. The cruelty is the point here: the desire to forcibly out trans women, even when it might threaten their safety. The message to trans women, trans men – or even anyone who looks like they might be trans – that this is not your space, and you will identify not according to your values but to ours.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 01/10/2026 22:50

I bet if Parkrun gave runners the private choice of being ranked by sex OR gender, which is entirely possible, they'd see a much more significant takeup than having to make a public statement about ones desire to be ranked with ones sex might imply.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 22:52

Canadanian · 01/10/2026 22:36

And you can get worked up about that? Goodness!

anyway, ‘prefer not to say’ could mean ‘I prefer not to say because I don’t share personal data’ or it could mean ‘I prefer not say because I don’t believe in the concept of gender’. You have to really, REALLY want to have an issue to complain when you don’t have even have to provide a gender.

Edited

What's the point of asking at all? It's an entirely meaningless term in this context.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 01/10/2026 22:53

So sad that some people think the idea of women competing against women is "joyless". I guess some people truly do believe that if there's no man, there's no point.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 22:54

Genital inspectors are not required. Ew. What a gross suggestion. We just suggest that people enter the correct category. I assume nobody asks to see birth certs for proof of age?

And it was. And then they evolved with the wishes of their users/members/runners. And it's not going back.

You can’t vote to unlawfully discriminate.

But then if it’s all genuinely just a happy inclusive run around the park with nobody wishing to compare their time to anyone else, there is no problem.

parkrun has obviously just forgotten to switch off the the comparative stats, and tell runners to stay away from newspapers when they break records (which nobody should be able to track).

Once that is all sorted out I’m sure everyone will be happy.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 22:56

Joyless. Feminists have long been accused of being miseries.

No proof of age, no drug testing… because it’s not a competition! It’s a community event.

It is absolutely a gross suggestion - we agree on that. What is your suggestion to enforce ‘2 biological sex categories’ at a community fun run though? This isn’t the olympics - nobody is testing the SRY gene in the local park.

I'm not suggesting 'enforcing' anything. It's a fun run! At a park!

Just that Parkrun, the organisers, recognise women's rights to recognition in sport.

I am a feminist. Gender critical ‘feminists’ don’t speak for us all.

Mycatisfab · 01/10/2026 23:02

We expect men to be honest, not lie about their sex. Parkrun could also have an open category for the gender fans

It's always TRAs who bring up genital inspections. They're a bit obsessed.

Why can't trans runners run but select the prefer not to say option? Otherwise they're flat out lying if they choose the sex the think they have transitioned to, and might as well lie about age while they're at it.

Self reporting needs honesty to work, and one group isn't playing ball.

Sorry, so what do you actually want to happen? What does that recognition look like to you? Is it just making sure trans people feel unwelcome?

If you include unhappy men in your feminism, you are not.

Honesty from the men. Simple really.

So? My point still stands. Feminists have long been called names.

In fact, I tend to think the more we get attacked and pilloried, the more it suggests we are doing something effective. The ad hom attacks are always revealing.

whut?

It's got fuck all to do with 'trans' identity, it's just asking for women's sports to be for women and not have cheating ass men taking the top spots and gaming the stats for their own greedy ends.

Then they shouldn't publish results. Just allow people to log in and see their own time if they want to measure their own performance.

No, the message is that if you are going to create categories to enable comparison the women’s results should not be designed to have less integrity than the men’s results.

Of course people can lie in a mass participation event, but you should start from the position of establishing meaningful categories.

If on the other hand you want to have an event where inclusion is more important than competition it’s simple - just don’t share results.

It depends what you mean by ‘effective’. I think you’re pilloried for being successful in making trans people less comfortable, less included, less safe.

You have never been effective in making women safer, or happier, or more respected or better paid in sports or any other field by targeting trans people.

You’re celebrating such a small, hollow victory.

You asked and your question was answered. 2 perfectly simple, doable options.

  1. honesty from the men
  2. results not published.

I have a ‘joyless feminist’ badge. I shall wear it tomorrow.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 01/10/2026 23:11

You know, I'd love to see some elite female runners turn up and sign up as men. I bet once the mid pack guys saw their stats falling there'd be a sudden backing for strictly sex-based ranking!
