Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

No. I believe transgender people exist and should be accommodated in their gender identity when possible and appropriate. Parkrun is an appropriate places for them to be accommodate in my view. And Parkrun's view. And the vast, vast majority or its runners' view clearly. But at least there are 485 or whatever it is of the 200,000 regular Parkrunners that share your view. Overwhelming, I'm sure.

So if one person suffers unlawful discrimination because of their sexual orientation, beliefs, race, gender reassignment, marriage or maternity status, should they suck it up because the service provider just wants to discriminate? Do you think the service provider should be able to discriminate if all their other patrons think it's OK? Is it just sex where you think there should be a vote?

GreenwayHouse · 01/10/2026 21:36

I am nervous about running (though I haven’t been well so will be mainly walking) in my RRR vest top this Saturday because of the abuse and threats that I’ve had online. There are some very angry men out there who don’t like women speaking up for their rights! However, I feel strongly about this and “courage calls to courage everywhere” so I figured if I wear the vest top it will hopefully encourage others to speak up as well.

Also, it is absolutely bonkers that something so basic as biology should be contentious so I also want to speak up for the truth. This country has fallen for a mass insanity, but I do think we are coming out the other side - slowly!

Ideas build over time - like Parkrun did. There were 13 runners at the first event.

It’s not healthy to affirm people’s delusions. Gender identity is irrelevant to sport but sex is not.

It's not a service though. It's group organisation enabling people of all abilities to amble round a park of a Saturday. Hyper-competitive people spoil it for the rest of us, as do bores who don't understand what the word "inclusive" means.

Scapegoating a tiny minority as saboteurs is as antithetical to the spirit of Parkrun as making it a competition. The whole point is to exercise at our own pace without judgement, whoever we are. It's a safe space to be yourself.

Hope everyone at your alternative has fun, especially if it means you'll leave the rest of us the hell alone.

SirChenjins · 01/10/2026 21:58

Oh you're so right - hyper competitive people do spoil it. Especially ones who run as something they're not and take the records for that category. It's almost like a lightbulb is slowly coming on in your head @TransParentlyAnnoyed 👏

If you yourself don't believe men can become wonen, why did you slander the poster for suggesting the idea that men can become women is a fairytale?

I don't think you understand the word slander.

The Supreme Court disagrees.

It’s inclusive because everyone runs together regardless of age or sex.

Results are reported by categories. Each category includes those who qualify and excludes those who don’t.

It’s the cheating men claiming to be female who are sabotaging Parkrun.

And they’ve received vast amounts of public money to increase participation of women and girls. But they will be unable to show how they’ve increased that because the female category is currently meaningless.

The Supreme Court disagrees.

The Supreme Court once upheld the right of men to rape their wives. I disagreed with that too. Did you not?

Wishesandhorses · 01/10/2026 22:08

My God there's some absolute nonsense deployed so very vigorously against women daring to want rights and spaces of their own that inconvenience men.

I'm finding the weaponising of marital rape particularly outrageous, that's a cheeky fucker mars bar award if ever I saw one.

But the Supreme Court can't be wrong, right? And if you want spaces to yourself - and women aren't asking, a small group of 485 names on a website (out of 200k) are - then maybe don't start with public parks. Or do you think that Parkrun has separate races for the sexes? Almost as batshit as the woman demanding hills were made single sex because she didn't want to hike near any trans women in a trans inclusive group. Bigotry does rot the brain.

For every pound Parkrun is given, it generates about £16.70 in 'social return'. And given the huge numbers of women and girls taking part happily. It rather seems money well spent. Just a tiny minority of vocal bigots determined to drive trans people out of public life being upset. Which some of us find to be quite a public service in and of itself.

I think you are trying to distract attention from your nasty comment.

GreenwayHouse · 01/10/2026 22:17

Why are you so invested in this, alcovecupboards?

Are you trans and therefore you have to maintain the house of cards or are you just enjoying the opportunity to have a go at women who dare speak up? Is it a convenient outlet for your misogyny?

Did it? Are you as sure about that as your other legal ‘facts’?

How ridiculous. Asking people to run in the correct biological sex categories is not driving trans people out of public life. We are just asking them to run in the correct category, for god’s sake!

And it was a small minority who put pressure on parkrun to alter the categories in 2019 at the expense of over 50% of the population.

If trans people don’t like it, maybe they should organise their own event (that’s what women are always being told, after all).

I'm no more 'invested' than any other woman here. Curious why you think we must all agree with you.

Other women aren’t repeatedly weaponising rape to have a go at other women. I’d have thought once was enough.

GreenwayHouse · 01/10/2026 22:22

I wrote to the chief executive of parkrun yesterday and I told her that their policy was giving free rein to men who delighted in abusing and harassing women (another example above). And that it was treating women like second-class citizens and reinforcing to people that women are still not as important as men.

Her email address is [email protected] if anyone else wants to message her.

Like women with very much alive husbands cosplaying as widows for attention? But that's fine, right? No need to go to the pesky trouble of having your husband die and having to tell your children that he's gone. Just say you're a widow apparently and the great Mumsnet feminists will back you up and attack real widows.

You are a woman? Or a pretend one? Because you sure don’t seem to like women very much. There’s lots of internalised misogyny going on with you.

I'm sure she'll definitely not just pop that into the spam folder without a second's thought.
