Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

If it is not your primary club then you will count in the numbers of members and appear by name in the consolidated club report if you run and count as part of the number who participated if you volunteer. If it is your primary club then the club will also appear under your name in the event’s results list.

Great, thank you.

Goodness me that's embarrassing for them.

Does anyone know if it needs to be listed as your primary club to count?

Edited

No, it doesn’t need to be your primary club. My primary club is still my running club and this is my second one. You will still count in their numbers though.

No, it's not. Although your repeated attempts to try and claim it's embarrassing are noted.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 15:03

Attempts to shame, attempts to mock, and derisory comments are instructive.

Some people are just determined to attack women standing up for women's rights to women's sports.

Coatsoff42 · 01/10/2026 15:30

I wish @alcovecupboards had something to say about alcove cupboards, at least it would be useful.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 15:31

There are other more pressing concerns.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 15:31

Maybe it's recessive as well as regressive.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2026 15:32

Or a closeted phobia. 😊

murasaki · 01/10/2026 15:37

Cupboard in alcoves are by definition rather shallow.

iwishitwouldstartraining · 01/10/2026 15:47

Nobody is forcing parkrun to share ranked results or to use terms like 'first' and 'second' in emails.

They could drop all the categories and simply email individual times, if that is what people want. I'm sure some people would find parkrun less intimidating if they did this, and they have indicated that this is their priority.

However, the fact that they don't do this demonstrates that they understand that some participants value the competitive aspect, and if they want that to be part of parkrun (which apparently they do), then their policies should not put women at a disadvantage compared to men. That is unlawful whether one women or a thousand women complain.

And that's probably also why numbers are low. You have to be pretty brave to say in public that you think single sex spaces and sport matter.

Cadeaukatze · 01/10/2026 16:27

For those saying it's not a race, some of the races still use gender too. For example, the Great North Run. The elite races are by sex but if you eg were a fast female runner in the mass start, you could be beaten by a male bodied person. It's not just parkrun.

Not as well embarrassing as believing men can become women. That's like believing in Santa Claus.

But there's no transphobia here, right?

Do you believe men can become women? Not a legal fiction or a social politeness, but a man actually transform, from his balls to his brain, into a woman?

Wishesandhorses · 01/10/2026 17:51

Are you with Lammy in believing that men can grow a cervix?

HousePlantEmergency · 01/10/2026 18:14

What a horrible human this person is.

All women are asking for is to have a fair shot.
I know lots of women who do park run, and they absolutely DO care about their times relative to other women in their age bracket. Mainly because a lot are post having children, and have seen their fitness levels fall following pregnancy, child birth, and years of being the primary caregiver (contributing to lack of time available to exercise)
Some of my friends have worked SO hard to build their fitness up again after children. They want to see how they fare amongst their contemporaries.
If TW times are recorded as women's times, it's utterly pointless for them to make this comparison.

I think by now most of us know the posters who are here just to insult the purpose of FWR as a gender critical forum.

They thrive on being engaged with.

They aren't worth replying to.

How long do you think they will go on bothering us if nobody even acknowledges they exist.

It just clogs up threads.

No. I believe transgender people exist and should be accommodated in their gender identity when possible and appropriate. Parkrun is an appropriate places for them to be accommodate in my view. And Parkrun's view. And the vast, vast majority or its runners' view clearly. But at least there are 485 or whatever it is of the 200,000 regular Parkrunners that share your view. Overwhelming, I'm sure.

As you've told many times before, if you see transphobia then report it. If it breaks talk guidelines then it will be deleted.

If it's not deleted because it doesn't break talk guidelines then you can:
a)leave MN in protest
b)accept that what you call transphobia is actually truthphobia
c)stop whining, put on your big girl pants, accept that people have different opinions, and decide if you can bear to hear them. If not, see a).

If you yourself don't believe men can become wonen, why did you slander the poster for suggesting the idea that men can become women is a fairytale?

Yes, although sometimes its more pragmatic than a question of just a lack of bravery.

How many women can actually afford to risk losing work? Or stand up when we know a bunch of hello creepy, angry men are looking for an excuse to 'punch them in the fucking face', and can do so with impunity?

Its been a long running campaign of pressure, intimidation, threats and sometimes actual physical attacks.

If you've watched years of people carrying signs openly advocating 'decapitate terfs' and all the gallows pictures of women being hanged and so on, I'd say its understandable.

It should be easier by now, given that the Supreme Court affirmed women were correct all along, and Cass has agreed to an extent, and politicians have started to speak up.

But many women have reasons not to put their heads above the parapet.
