Today was another Parkrun Saturday and like every weekend the achievements by women was demoted by men running in the female category.

We are hoping to change this! In only a few weeks time, we will debut Reality Rules Runners UK at Parkrun. We hope that many hundreds (hopefully thousands) of you will join us to send a clear and strong statement to Parkrun about the huge support there is for fairness and sex-based categories at their events.

All sports events are responsible for putting on fair events. This includes free, volunteer run, community events like Parkrun.

So please tell people about Reality Rules Runners UK, as we are hoping to attract lots more supporters before our debut at Parkrun on 3 October.

Thank you! 🙏

I’m a bit disappointed at how few people have signed up so far especially given the number of followers on X. We need to have more people sign up and then there will be safety in numbers. I’ve signed up under my own name and added it to my running club list underneath my usual running club. I will be wearing one of the vest tops on Saturday. I am going to a parkrun where I saw a woman a few weeks ago wearing a Save Women’s Sports T-shirt. I ended up chatting to her and she said that most of her running club was sympathetic, so I figured that parkrun would be a safe one to do it, even though it’s quite far from me.

Please sign up if you haven’t already and let’s try and restore sanity!

I'm not surprised. Parkrun isn't the place for this nonsense. Fortunately it's showing up the minority who are obsessed with trans people. The organisers of this promised thousands would sign up - and it just goes to show that it's a tiny, vocal minority. And actually all this does is show that the focus is on attacking trans people rather than campaigning for fair sport - and that will backfire. But there are those so blinded by their own hatred that they can't see it - and we'll all pay the price.

Go on then @alcovecupboards, englighten us all. In your opinion how can we campaign for fair sport for women without being accused of attacking trans people? If asking for sex based categories in sport, which is an inclusion measure for women, is considered an attack what else can we do?

Not focus on a community-led initiative that only wants to get as many people running as possible. Instead focus on actual competitions with actual consequences. That has overwhelming support for single sex categories. Attacking Parkrun is a fool's errand. It's VERY clear that even sensible GC people do not support this hate campaign by those few who now make a very good living from being GC spokeswomen.

WomanWithoutNeedOfPrefix · 30/09/2026 22:36

Well I guess that's the difference in our perspectives and priorities. What you see as an attack on trans people I see as a defence of women.

On this basis there's no need to record and publish times and rankings. Would you agree with eradicating that aspect and letting it just be a 'run not a race'? If not why not?

I think some posters, the “GC as they come” crowd, still believe women give a rats ass about budging up for men. If TIM are not women, so cannot play in women’s sports, why should they be allowed in women’s categories in Parkrun?

Sure. I couldn't care less. Most people couldn't care less about the rankings.

If so many women agree with you - why can't you muster the numbers to prove it? The transphobes are a tiny - yet vocal - minority. That's proven every single time they are required to be in person. And actually I wonder how many of those who have signed up (under false names, apparently) will actually bother to turn up? Thousands as claimed?

Ok great, and this is an option for parkrun to make things fair, of they can't provide the service for women they stop providing if for men too. I wonder why they are afraid to do that when 'most people' couldn't care less? I wonder why trans people even register if nobody cares? You don't have to register to run, you don't have to provide your barcode when you finish, you can just run with the group for fun if that's all it is.
Yet for mysterious reasond all these people who don't care do register and do provide their barcode and parkrun does time and rank everybody.
So curious.

They have no need to - and clearly the 0.02% of people who use it and care haven't got the numbers to force the issue. Have you considered that people just want to track their own times to see how they're progressing? But I'm sure they'll be THOUSANDS of people running for this lot on Saturday, right? They must be if they care so much? Be pretty embarrassing if they can't muster the THOUSANDS promised, right? That's definitely curious.

Of course parkrun could make it fair for women but it will make some men sad so they won’t. Remember, women are just support humans for men, our needs and wants do not matter

Raspbellies · 01/10/2026 07:50

But parkrun won't scrap the results. We've asked many times.

Parkrun remain an incredibly sexist organisation and think that only boys and men deserve accurate run / walk results.

Imagine women being afraid to mark themselves as terfs, when other women are smeared, sneered at, monstered, abused, threatened, sacked and attacked for doing so.

WomanWithoutNeedOfPrefix · 01/10/2026 08:07

I'm still smarting at the suggestion that me joining a running club and wearing a t-shirt asking for fairness for women at an event I have been part of for over 10 years and volunteered many hours is a hateful attack on trans people.

Whereas Parkrun removing sex based categories, then acknowledging that this is to prioritise the inclusion of men over fairness to women, whilst continuing to take government funding aimed at supporting female participation in sport is an act of inclusion. It is not. It is pure sexism.

I’m not surprised that more people haven’t signed up. I’ve never had so much abuse since I’ve been calling for fair sports for women and girls on social media. I’ve been called a c* for the first time ever simply for asking for the F category to be for women and girls only. Also, a lot of people don’t know about the campaign. I’ve told people about it who have signed up and they’ve only known about it because of me.

Parkrun’s policy is giving misogynists free rein to harass and abuse the women who are calling for it.

I’ve not been well all week and probably would skip parkrun this Saturday if it wasn’t for the RRR launch. So I will run/plod this week so that I have taken part even though it’s probably a bad idea for me. And I am slightly nervous about wearing the T-shirt because I’ve seen posts from men saying that they will be noting down who is wearing them (so they can abuse us).

I wouldn’t mind so much if it affected men in the same way. But it doesn’t and it never will. It’s the double standards that make me angry. As usual, women suffer.

And women and girls at grassroots level deserve fair opportunities. If parkrun, a massive global initiative that has received public money to increase participation of women and girls, is shown to do the right thing, it will set the example for other organisations. At the moment they are too cowardly.

And you say that they shouldn’t bow to pressure from a small minority. That’s exactly what they did when they changed the categories in 2019. The feelings of a small number of confused men were prioritised over 50% of the population.

Honestly, try not to worry about it. Pretty much everything is a hateful attack on trans people according to that poster. Women deserve fair opportunities. Thank you 💐

Does anyone know if it needs to be listed as your primary club to count?

Sod it, I've selected it in case.

Scout2016 · 01/10/2026 12:16

Sorry, also, at risk of repeating, you don't have to be able to run 5k to do parkrun. You can do a run/ walk or walk. In case anyone wants to join on Saturday but is worried about the running part. For all their faults at HQ there is an acceptance at events I have been to of those less speedy or walking.

I've been following Sandie's case this week.18 months on from FWS and they are still fretting and reviewing and discussing how to implement the law. Which is the same as it was before FWS. No such worry about letting men in women's spaces in the first place.

If it is not your primary club then you will count in the numbers of members and appear by name in the consolidated club report if you run and count as part of the number who participated if you volunteer. If it is your primary club then the club will also appear under your name in the event’s results list.
