Why do some people view JK Rowling as transphobic?

Where do people get the idea that JK Rowling is transphobic from? Where? I’m having this argument with an acquaintance who tells me she’s the most transphobic person on earth but cannot point to one single thing that she’s done or said that’s transphobic. Is this the widest held totally bullshit view ever?

I do wonder if some of the TRA brigade muddle up KJK with JKR they all seem to struggle with reading properly.

I'm not entirely convinced JKR's behaviour goes into actual, verifiable phobia, but the (abundant) evidence is very, very clear; she constantly and consistently (and, quite possibly, pathologically) sneers at minority groups and uses her considerable fame and reach to punch downward. Those are not qualities that a moral, decent human being should ever exhibit.

That she also, genuinely, does spend some of her enormous wealth in supporting women's groups - which is to be rightly lauded - does not, in my view and the view of many, absolve her from accountability of the hateful, pernicious shit she spews.

I believe the TRA claim is that transgender people were targeted during the Holocaust, whereas the reality is that those transgender people who were victims were targeted because they were gay or Jewish. Correcting this TRA lie is of course considered transphobic and/or holocaust denial.

My DP was adamant (the one time we talked about this issue) that the essay is transphobic, although I don't know why in any detail.

I do wonder if some of the older TRA males insist that the (often) vulnerable youngsters denounce JKR, as a warm-up for getting them to reject their families. A practice run for giving up something that you love, that has meaning for you, that sustained you in your childhood. Part of the grooming, in other words.

When JKR put out this tweet, she got so much abuse from TRAs, really horrible messages. She was sent so many she could have papered a room with them but she didn't back down.

Maybe some people on here think that she has gone too far but they never look at their own side and the blatant hatred being spewed. 'Suck my girl dick' is often used by TRAs as well as other flagrant comments, not suitable for MN.
