Welcome to The Bluestocking, the best (perhaps only) online women's pub. Nothing in the food or drink can harm you, everything is served by a very enthusiastic crew of gerbils, and any curious menfolk are welcome at the Staunch Ally down the road.

I've just bought a pair of dark metallic red patent boots in the sale. Far too hot to wear them yet but they're an investment piece. I'm sure you understand.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/08/2026 16:12

Bumbles in.
I'm going to make a PIE for tea. Any suggestions for the filling? 😁

Chickadeeinme · 10/08/2026 16:12

I have been to the gym this morning and am lounging in the bath washing off the sweat. I’m sure we have a sauna and a pool somewhere in the Bluestocking don’t we?

Chickadeeinme · 10/08/2026 16:13

I have the remains of roast lamb in the fridge so I’m thinking lamb curry for dinner tonight.

backformoreofthesame · 10/08/2026 16:14

Mince and onion or cauliflower cheese please

There should be a Purchases Tax of photos like there's a Cat Tax in The Litter Tray.

Made it! I had to follow the trail of Tunnocks wrappers being thrown from the back of one of the tractors. Thanks for the thread, Glad.

Ooh, a boot fitting party? May I have purple sparkly ones please?

the only rule is they must fit your feet perfectly

if you are asked to stand in plaster on your way in? It’s just measurements being taken

backformoreofthesame · 10/08/2026 16:15

Oh have I had a slow moment agin ?

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/08/2026 16:16

Kitty says thanks but she’s fine with Boily’s slippers.

Love the camels' hats! Hunter also looking very majestic.

Thank you, I think his pirate era is going to last a while. I probably should explain that this galleon is The Virago, sister ship to The Dreadnork. We've been searching for her for a long time but heard that she was abandoned in the Caribbean, which coincidentally was the camels' last stop on their holiday, and here so we are. Tying up at the BS very soon.

Since I am among friends, I’d like to add the correctly punctuated title for this thread.
I think.

It’s

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, in which we wait excitedly for the next instalments of Gosie's adventures: Gosie, Glass and the Gerbils' Dilemma.

or

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, in which we wait excitedly for the next instalments of Gosie's adventures: “Gosie, Glass and the Gerbils' Dilemma”

Do they meet with your approval? 😆

Dessert pie or pie pie? If the former, probably best not to use cherries this time - not sure Chickadee is ready to see any of those again yet!

I would have apple. Or salmon and broccoli.

edited, spelling.

We seem to be acquiring a fleet! I think the next ship should be either The Amazon or The Valkyrie.

Love them! Excellent choice!

AngleofRepose · 10/08/2026 16:37

A fleet of Bluestocking ships is exactly what we need!

I have a Vespa called Valkyrie (Valk for short).

I always enjoy spinach, feta and mint, perhaps with some pine nuts and a bit of lemon zest.
Although broccoli and blue cheese is also nice.

They both sound good. I had some rather nice cheddar and caramelised onion tartlets recently (even better for being free and with someone else doing the washing up).

I wonder if the Serious Scandinavians would allow us to add their longship to the fleet? Anyone know if she already has a name?

AsWithGlad · 10/08/2026 16:49

@Magpiecomplex , in the last thread you posted a picture of yourself transporting a lovely wooden box containing noisy musical instruments, including three triangles.

Did you manage to lose any on the way from the Old Bluestocking?

And The Boudicca after that.

Ah, the box. Well...

Don't tell Gubbins as she will be distraught, but I'm afraid I got caught in a crosswind and had to jettison most of the contents. Fortunately I did manage to save one of the triangles.

I do feel sorry for Gubbins. She is so careful with her triangle, but for some inexplicable reason it's never where she left it. I think Magpie has about 200 triangles by now!

Look, it's a biological imperative, innit. Magpies gotta magpie, and if Gubbins will insist on playing shiny metal instruments which happen to be highly portable, what does she expect?
