I'm not gonna lie, i can't eat the teacakes due to the gelatine and since moving to France, sorry not sorry, the taste of the chocolate on the wafer bar is utterly disappointing. We have round Milka wafters instead now. BEAUTIFUL. And every shopping trip there are 2 aisles of alternatives each one better than the UK offerings. We have bonne maman of every flavour and description and shape, which knocks socks off a caramel bar.

I love Root Beer. a misunderstanding in the British Aisle in our local Casino when we moved here was 3 different varieties of Root Beef on sale. Lost in translation somewhere but I think I was the only Brit to buy them.

I stopped after a few weeks due to the sugar content, I was off my tits after every bottle.

Scuse you - rude. Tunnocks confectionery isn't Scotland's number one offering to the world for nothing, you know. Unless there's something wrong you, a caramel wafer dunked in an Earl Grey is perfection in a wrapper.

I don't like chocolate in my Earl Grey! It's like adding butter, all greasy.

Ahh, you're doing it wrong. The Earl Grey has to be hotter than the fires of hell, a quick dunk to slightly moisten the chocolate, and then suck away to get the chocolate off. The caramel warms slightly and if you're really lucky it will separate slightly from the wafer.

That actually sounds minging reading it back. Definitely not one for public view.

Chocolate bics should only be dipped in proper strong tea with a dash of milk in it surely?

See, I find Milka chocolate a bit...meh.

I do like Bonne Maman though. They do lovely things, as do LU (love their butter biscuits, I used them to make Ottolenghi's chocolate Brigadeiros and they were delicious).

I'm with you there on Milka - it tastes like starter chocolate and never quite gets going. The chocolate equivalent of a limp handshake.

No no you achieve the same result by resting the bar across your mug for a minute or two allowing the tea steam to warm it. DH may or may not have a special cup of just the right diameter to allow him to do this with a strop waffle.

It turns out the Niederegger café in Lubeck has a museum and the Tallinn marzipan museum has a café. Is this the type of outcome “zero sum game” was created for?
