Detectivedouche. Lets look at the evidence.
my factual observation that the 'middle class MN collective' freak out about trans issues
Ok. What is a fact? Its something that can be quantified and evidence given for. This sentence is your opinion based on posts as there is no data from which you can quantify this assertion from. Why? Because you don't work for MN and have access to any of their data on their users, particularly the users for whom this issue is most concerning.
Indeed, many of the grass roots groups who picked up on trans issues negatively impacting on women in the Uk were firmly left wing working class womens groups.
The Mumsnet MAJORITY get very.. aeriated.. at the fact that being trans is a PROTECTED LEGAL STATUS in the UK.. that's a fact..
Yes this is true. But the supreme court ruling also reflects that the Equality Act requires the observation of sex precisely to identify and protect women, gay people AND transpeople. Without observation of SEX there is no legal protection in law in the UK for transpeople. They need their sex observed at birth to have these legal protections.
doesn't matter how much they shriek on about birth gender being set in stone.
Detective, the facts are that birth gender is not a thing. Its birth sex. Sex and gender are not the same thing. And good detective knows that grasping the details are essential in making any case or argument. Conflation of ideas is poor methodology and doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
It's THAT opinion that is not legally recognised anymore..
Could you please point me to the legislation and court ruling that details this? We know that belief in sex is protected in law by numerous legal apparatus
like these opinions are going to reverse the legal status that now exists!
See above
It baffles me.
Learn a bit more about how the law works then.
I guess people need an outlet for their prejudices and sadly, it's here. Even though it won't make a jot of difference! It reminds me of when people used to get away with being so openly prejudiced against gayness.
The SC ruled that a failure to observe sex, in favour of gender undermined the Equality Act so much it created a situation where it was effectively homophobic. Hence why they ruled that sex must mean biological sex.
Being trans is not being gay.
Some people are gay - live with it. Similarly, some people are trans.. so folk better learn to live with THAT too.. or at least their own discomfort about it. Preferably quietly
