In case anyone has missed this prize example of a mentally ill adult male exhibiting trans entitlement.

@DetectiveDouche
"Protected legal status' simply means that a man who identifies trans can't be discriminated against compared to a man who does not identify as trans.
That's all it means. I don't blame you for your misunderstanding though - it's probably what you've been led to believe.

There was no hate in that comment, which was based on current attitudes to possibly dangerous people, with mental problems, being allowed to walk around the streets, possibly posing a very unpredictable danger to the rest of society.
How many times have we heard after a murder (the awful Southport multiple murders) that the murderer had mental problems?
We are not talking about young, pregnant women being locked away, we have moved on from that thank God, we are talking about people with severe mental problems being kept in secure places, where they can be looked after and treated by experienced medical staff, where they are safe and do not pose a problem to society as a whole.

The quote says "bring back asylums" people with thyroid disorders, unmarried mothers, people with learning disabilities, any other difference were held here for decades as late as the 70s, 80s and 90s ...the quote was very clear

SockPlant · 23/07/2026 16:37

But it didn't say "and throe unmarried mothers & co. In them"

"Care" in the community did a LOT of harm. We need places that can care for people who are so mentally unwell that they can't care for themselves and/or may harm others.

AgedPudding · 23/07/2026 16:38

Similarly, some people are trans.. so folk better learn to live with THAT too.. or at least their own discomfort about it. Preferably quietly

Speaking for myself, I don't feel any discomfort at people being trans. I'm really not bothered at all about it. Let they do them, so to speak. I have worked in a quite large office with a transwoman, my friend's daughter is a transman.
I have also come into contact with a few transwomen as customers in retail.
The first two who I obviously know personally are, surprising to some, perfectly aware and accepting that they are not their assumed sex but would very much like to be. The trans woman knows he is a man and uses the mens toilet - there is no issue as it's an office where people know who he is. It doesn't worry anyone. My friend's daughter uses the womens toilet because that's her preference and that doesn't surprise me. Nobody has ever challenged her for being a man in a womens toilet because despite her being a man in her head, she is, in fact, to all onlookers, clearly a woman.

So long as people who identify as trans stay within the law and use the public facilities designated to their biological sex I can't see that anyone would have a problem living with that. I certainly don't.

It absolutely did not!

Here is the quote:

'we need to bring back asylums for anyone who is too dangerous to be allowed to mix with normal people.'

WrongKindOfFeminist · 23/07/2026 16:40

The quote history is right there if you expand the chain of replies.

WrongKindOfFeminist · 23/07/2026 16:44

Would you prefer it if we call them 'secure hospitals'? Can assure you plenty of people in secure hospitals see little differnce, regardless of what they're called. And many are relieved to be looked after.

Cherry picking quotes to make a point means you've already lost the point. We've come along way since the 70's/80's there's no reason to assume that asylums today would be as bad as they were in the past.

As a PP said 'care in the community' is a disaster, it needs to be replaced by something more structured and reliable for the people who need it the most.

Lets take all the money that the NHS wastes on DEI and non jobs and fund a proper Mental Health Care system with it.

They already are old style asylums back ....you haven't followed the scandal of countless deaths of people with LD or young people in locked institutions this week or recent years? Countless inquests and reports?

People who fear DEI I can't...we are racing back to a Victorian age

Perhaps if you link to a current event I'd know better what your talking about, locked institutions can cover a lot of things that are not the asylums that you spoke of.

This video made me feel so, so deeply sad.

I don't know what the solutions are for someone who has this much trouble navigating life.

But I could only be comfortable with myself if I were to say "I hope you find what you need to live in peace."

I do not think the solution is to have every student and staff member of an institution walking on eggshells not to call this man who is clearly a man, 'he'.

This is how the 'there's only a few of them' argument falls, because every single other person in their orbit is gaslit and under pressure of compliance 24/7.

It made me deeply sad too. Sad that this man has been aggressively lurching towards, and chasing different groups of students/ juveniles (I think that was said) as per the witness from Subway. He was known to be aggressive, and possibly a danger. He only seemed to be brought to book when he tried it on with a police officer who had pepper spray, taser, and the force of law.

So, youngsters have had to put up with his thuggish, and threatening, behaviour. Who knows how many girls/women may have removed themselves from female spaces if he plonked himself there? You wouldn’t stay in a place with such a potentially dangerous man. And, we saw he was even kicking off with the police, so one can only wonder what would he potentially do to weaker targets of his ire. Would those girls even be given the time of day if they complained? Or would they be told to shut up, and they must be hateful to not want an aggressive and potentially dangerous man in confined spaces?

Nice for the copper that he could cuff him (with support), and report all the attempted lurching, shouting, kicking, and grabbing/ punching. All on camera. The thug was lying in the car conversation about what happened. Very good it is all on camera. And they had excellent and honest witnesses.

I wonder what abuse other students etc have had to put up with. With maybe no way of voicing complaints without being abused again as hateful for not wanting someone like this aggressively threatening them. What a charter for abusive men?

Kid can be unhappy about pronouns, but should have just walked away. No reason to stick around if you’re being insulted. Definitely WAY overrated by having a full blown tantrum/psychotic episode. Hope police provided a full psych evaluation and arranged for this clearly disturbed person to get the help they need. And better hair so they don’t look like Cousin It from the Addams Family.

This was not a kid. He's 27 and more than old enough to know better.

..and this is exactly where it ends.

So we will go back to pregnant children locked away, anyone with any difference locked away...all the scandals of the past repeated...the massive excess deaths in these institutions and more.

An appalling and hate filled thing to comment

For goodness sake. Stop with the catastrophising. No one on this thread is actually suggesting anyone be locked up. And such hyperbole does no good whatsoever in terms of trying to support for individuals with gender dysphoria.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/07/2026 17:27

SodThisHeadache · 23/07/2026 16:16

That was, I think, the first BBC article I ever complained about.
It must have been me who got them to make it absolutely crystal clear that he's a man (heavy sarcasm).
And here we are in 2026 with still dozens of other violent or paedophilic men the BBC has failed to correctly sex, or even tell us they identify as 'transgender'.

Well done!

Bizarre...I commented on a post which called to go "back to asylums" for people with mental ill-health

No catastrophising here; my world view isn't centred in hate

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/07/2026 17:37

As pp said, some people who are too dangerous to be around others are committed to locked mental health institutions. It’s still a thing now. What is your point?

I assume its some kind of anti psychiatry/prison abolition thing.

That nobody should ever be deprived of their freedom, no matter the risk of harm to themselves or otheres.

This is how the 'there's only a few of them' argument falls, because every single other person in their orbit is gaslit and under pressure of compliance 24/7.

It's also worth recognising that this is Florida, USA. Part of the walking on eggshells will be fear of being shot dead by an aggressive man for refusing to affirm him.

I think it was quite instructive in the newer video, one short little phrase from the first witness at about 15:50.

He says "So these were more juvenile kids, so they don't really have a filter."

Saying exactly what you said; everybody else there is expected to 'filter' what they say. But these younger people, without a 'filter', clearly weren't bothered about walking on eggshells in the same way that students at the university were.

heathspeedwell · 23/07/2026 18:06

It's really encouraging that younger students didn't feel pressured to pretend that this 27 year old man is a little girl, despite his stripy stockings and his Mary Jane shoes.

Students shouldn't feel they have to pretend to believe in sexist, regressive, homophobic gender ideology. I'm happy that studies show that most students today are more confident to admit that they believe sex matters.

So many don’t seem to get this.

Let’s say a man with a gender identity has changed his name to Annie, gone as far as have full surgery etc which most don’t.

Annie being told by the manager of a coffee shop he can’t enter because he’s trans is discrimination.

Annie however cannot use the women’s toilets because he is not a woman(& never will be), that is not discrimination.

Annie being denied access to the library because he’s trans is discrimination.
Annie being unable to attend a women’s book club there is not discrimination.

Hope this helps the poster that’s confused to understand.

I have bookmarked this. Because I think it is a very clear 'Lehman's' terms' way to explain it to people who know nothing about it. It's something I try to explain to people often and quite as often get stuck with!

SodThisHeadache · 23/07/2026 18:35

@BarefootNosepicker

Exactly! And if a man (let's say a lovely man like my husband) wants to enter a woman's changing room, he's not allowed. Because he's male.
And because he's not allowed, nor is a man who says he's transgender (even if he's lovely like my husband, even if he's got a Gender Recognition Certificate and even if he's had his penis inverted and his testicles removed*).

All of this is Legal Discrimination.

*as you say, very few do...
